This is the reason for many movies taken mocking the Brahmin community in every way possible. The Brahmins are projected as cheats, politician with no character, corrupt in every aspect, ill-treating other caste people, practicing untouchability, characterless woman, etc. This is the narrative that the State government wants to build. Now, there is a new trend questioning why there are more judges in Brahmin community accusing them as biased against other castes. Brahmins will have to have higher educational standards in a competitive situation to become an Engineer, Doctor and so on and where will they go to make a living in the state? Apparently, either they become a lawyer or choose other professions that are available to them.

I am a Brahmin and I am proud to be so. I try to practice teachings of Sanatana Dharma as much as possible like any other Hindu practicing the religion. I have no hate against any caste or other religions. That is the value with which I was raised. I spend a lot of time reviewing the teachings in Christianity, Islam, and Jewish and compare notes to find out the commonalities in all religions. I have contributed significantly to educate a Dalit child (I even taught her subjects that she was not able to perform well) and now she is married and has a child and I support her education too. I have asked her to look after our new home in Chennai and gave her a quarters to live in. I pay her everymonth for taking care of the house so that she doesn't have to look for a job. She affectionately calls me "Appa" and talk to me every week. Her parents died when she was young and hence she literally consider me as her parent. When we go to Chennai, we all eat together and she literally spend most of her time in our home. Anyone who knows me personally or interacted with me regularly knows this. At the same time, I am also sending monthly money for those poor Brahmin children who are learning Veda and aspiring to recite Veda everyday. Can anyone tell me where I am practicing untouchability or discrimination against Dalit or for that matter any other castes or religions? I am willing to listen and change myself, and get integrated with the society in India.

Even an unprovoked comment like, "this forum is not only for Brahmin" is hurtful. Where is this thought coming from? Did anyone in the administration or any ILite gave that impression to other ILites? Even though it was said in the context of defending a movie subject, it has a different connotations for those who have experienced hate from the childhood as a Brahmin. One has to experience it from the shoes of Brahmin to understand the impact of such statements. Having different view about a movie is okay. I respecfully request the members not to mention anything like that so that we can live with communal harmony and mutual respect for each other.

Yes. That sentence only shows the biased views of that particular person.
Maybe that's what they have learnt in their profession.
Also the western media always talking about caste with respect to Hindus is not helping either.
I belong to the OBC category, but was not eligible use any reservations because of my dad's income.
OBC had to be below the income limit to avail reservations.
No income limits for SC ST.
grew up in a modern household where caste was not even mentioned. When I had to fill in the Entrance examination application, caste was a question.
That's when I asked my parents, what's our caste?

When i started studying in engineering college staying in a hostel, I saw the real world.
Like i mentioned in another comment here, I have seen it all.
I had a brahmin girlfriend in college .have stayed in her house too. She actually used to feel embarrassed that their food was not upto my satisfaction because it was all vegetarian. I used to keep telling her. No worries, we eat vegetarian too.
Non vegetarian is only for 2 days a week in my house also.
This girl used to sit beside me in the hostel cafeteria. I used to eat non veg and she veg.
She had a close Muslim friend too . She used to scold that girl for not doing namaz 5 times a day like other Muslim girls in the hostel.

Very nice content. unfortunately it is not so easy. it is basic human nature to go to negative content or controversy. i guess subconscious rewards a huge dopamine hit. and that is even easier in this world of reels and Instagram and YouTube.

Such movies are part of larger agenda to spoil the younger generation to curb the growth and peace in india.

This particular ILite is a highly accomplished individual. I don’t like to demean her in anyway. That is why I expressed my view how hurtful her comment was and requested her to refrain from such comments. It is always best to address only the issue rather than labeling the individual as good or bad.

I truly admire your comradeship with people from all castes and religions. You have truly practiced a good value.

Why are you bringing @SGBV's profession into this discussion?

I see a few posts discussing @SGBV without tagging her. In online discussions, it comes across as rude to talk about someone without including them in the conversation. Tagging keeps things direct and respectful.

If we are advocating respectfulness and consideration for everyone, maybe take a moment to reflect on how casually the word slut has been used by you. This excerpt from a post in another thread sums it up:
Sorry @Laks09 for bringing your post from another thread to here.

The word slut is generally considered pejorative. It is used as an insult or to shame or criticize women for their perceived sexual behavior, for women who have sex with more partners than we consider appropriate.

Let's not use that word so casually to refer to a teenager, at least not in a women's forum.

If you absolutely must use it, at least refer to the behavior as slutty, not the girl herself.
