Baby Kicks during Pregnancy Hi, The baby is constantly moving and floating from the early days of conception. But it is so small and there is so much space that an expecting woman does not feel it. Initially the baby movements are felt as a flutter. As if there is a bubble or something tickling in the stomach. It can be confused with gas. Woman who have regular meals eat healthy and eat on time have less bloating and gas. So they can be sure it is not gas but the baby moving. Generally it may have a pattern; the flutter may happen over the same time of the day or after a particular meal. An actual baby movement can be felt as early as the 20th week or even a few weeks after, in the 5th month, or even 6th month. Initially the movement is like a flutter or a butterfly flapping inside, a tickle or like gas. The mother shouldn't get scared listening to other women discussing their baby’s movements. The actual kick a sure strong kick can be felt from the 27th or 28th week i.e. 7th month onwards and it gets stronger. As the mother progresses in to the third trimester or the late months the baby has grown in size and will have very less space to kick so it feels like a nudges or pressure or bulge in the abdomen. The number of kicks will reduce but the movements are there. It is very normal and the mother should not worry about this change as long she can feel the movements. Towards the end the mother can see a bulge in her stomach and the movements can become very uncomfortable. There are various experts who have different view of the number of fetal movements. Check with these parameters and record it over a few days and find your pattern. Ø When does the baby move? Time of the day or after a meal. Ø What stimulates the baby to move?
