I read somewhere that consuming Mulethi aka Licorice root powder is good for preventing hairfall. Or you can even apply it on the scalp. Not sure how true it is.

Yes mulethi (licorice/athi madhuram) is used both internally and externally for hair fall and baldness.

    Remedy for baldness
Athi madhuram powder is mixed with milk along with a pinch of saffron (optional) into a paste and is applied on the scalp to sprout hair on bald head. This pack is left on the scalp for 15 mins before washing. They say this may not work for everyone depending on the severity. Onion is a better choice for balding head.

    For long hair growth
Mix 1 tbsp mulethi (athimadhuram) powder,1 tbsp baalchad (ratan jot) powder,1 tbsp shkikakai, a pinch of saffron,1 tbsp freshly extracted aloe vera gel, enough milk to make a paste.Apply as a hair pack at the roots, gently massage and wrap head with a cloth, leave overnight and wash with water. This arrest hair fall within a week of usage and hair starts growing.Repeating everyday gives best results.

Athi madhuram is mixed with other herbs while making hair oils and for internal usage to promote hair fall. It tastes too sweet and hence is known as Athi Madhuram. For internal consumption I would go for Amla either fresh, frozen n thawed or in dried/powdered form as it’s anti aging and helps maintain healthy skin n hair.

Reeta shikakai doesnt go well with everyone so by adding aloe vera and athi madhuram to your herbal shampoo that issue is solved.
