Asking For Change When You Don't Contribute Financially

    Thank you for the wonderful answer. Since this thread is a bit old I thought i should let everyone know that I decided to not go ahead with asking them to change anything since I have made up my mind to move out in two years time. Have convinced wife about it too. In case we don't do so, I will happily pay for the renovations. I never said I don't have any issues with my ILs but yes nothing compared to what DILs go through. But that's a whole other discussion!

    you choose to renovate for your convenience so it is your duty to spend money for that
    And above all did your in-laws agree for the changes as it is their property .
    If they agree that itself is a big respect They are giving for you
    In turn you need to take care of the expenses for the changes . My two piece of opinion
