What materials are used for dolls?

    Hi all,

I have this doubt from a long period. We normally see lot of clay(?) dolls in gift shops of various figures like birds, flower, girl-boy. these dolls are not shiny like porcelain ceramic products. I just want to know what are these dolls made up of? they have a neat look without those shiny surface. Are these called la-masa products? Do any ILites know the procedure?

    nylon crochet bags

i have some nylon thread which i'd bought to make some crochet shopping bags - these bags were a craze a few years back in b'lore, usually worked in single crochet rounds with a dark background with some folk(cross stitch-like) patterns done in a lighter color. i could not find any of those folk patterns book or online so the threads are collecting dust :(

any patterns or pics will really help me start this project!

also i could never get a tight tension with the nylon thread , they were very slippery and used to get loose if i leave it, any tips?

    Ceramic powder in USA

    1) Where can I get ceramic powder in USA. I have tried Home depot, Art shops etc. I am not sure if it sells by a different name. Please give some info. on it.

    2) Also,is M-seal available here in USA ?

    3) I keep reading about chalk powder as a medium for textured paintings,is it the same writing chalk- ground to a powder ?

I find it difficult to find substitutes in USA. I am sure there are many materials but I would appreciate any info.from all of you.

    Thanks
