    Dear Chithra Mam,

For green chillies in vinegar recipe, can we use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar? If yes, does it make any difference in taste.

    Regards,
    Spandhana

    Dear Spandhana,
It is best to use plain white vinegar. The other vinegar will impart its taste to the green chillies.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Vijee,
Never will I mistake you for asking any query - rest assured.
In my younger age, suraikkai was scarce & was not much used. But now that its properties as a diuretic are known, we use it a lot. There will not be any side effect at all.
In the early stages of pregnancy, some ladies avoid papaya & pineapple though doctors say it is not warranted.
Do not worry, Vijee. Have a positive outlook. My prayers for you.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,
(hard to call you by name-since you are as old as my mom)Bow

Hope you were able to organize the recipes and shlokas...!

I have a small doubt about the Mint rice.
Usually I make Mint rice with raw rice or basmati rice and it comes out well.
Also I saw that you had mentioned to add a few drops of lemon at the end.
For the sour taste, I add a little bit of tamarind paste when I grind the paste (this is how my amma taught me)
Is that alright? Or is there any special reason you use lemon juice(to maintain the green color so that it doesnt turn brown because of tamarind?)

    Your thoughts on this please!

    Regards
    Krithika(Jithiks)

    Hi Viji
I took suraikkai from 1st to 4th month. Actually ppl say its good during pregnancy. Some women use to get swelling in their legs or foot...by taking suraikkai you can avoid those. You can take, suraikkai koottu, vegie, sambar etc...Instead of Poosanikkai here in US we get lot of suraikai...Dont worry....
And as Chithra ma'm said, normally ppl say it is better to avoid pineapple, papaya not only during pregnancy but also at the time when you try to conceive. And when u try to conceive pl avoid more oily items, Fat items. And have lot of water (especially in early mornings) and also take fresh orange juice or fruits. "All The Best"
