    Sorry to butt in

    Dear Lakshmy,

nutmeg is jaathikai and amchur powder is dried mango powder. Lauki is churaikkai, I am not so sure. Jaathikai is given to babies in a very small qualtity and also used in sweets like Halwa, and poli. Amchur is a powder mostly used in the North mainly to give a slightly sour taste (like that of lemon) to dishes.I am sure once Chithra comes back, she will give you a detailed answer.
    With warm wishes,
    varloo

    Coffee custard with cocoa powder?

    Dear Mrs Chitra,

I want to try my hands on the oft-praised coffee custard. I do not have instant coffee and only have filter coffee powder. I have cocoa powder that I use for baking cakes and do see that u have mentioned we could replace instant coffee powder with that...will the taste still be the same or do you think it's better I bought instant coffee and then tried making it?

    Thanks
    Shal

    It becomes chocolate custard !

Instead of instant coffee powder, you can use cocoa powder & make, as I have given. It is quite nice. But do not make with filter coffee powder !
    Love & regards,
    Chithra.
