    ARTIFICIAL “DAYS?”

Ever since I grew some brain cells, I realised that there are seven days in a week. In addition, there are some important days of history like Independence Day or Republic Day. Then some politicians appropriated some days for themselves in the form of their Birthdays or Death days. The trend continues as you scratch my back I scratch your back is the way of finding a place in history.

Then we turned to market economy and marketing is all about harnessing the opportunities. The gift card market is flush with many types of days. I just wanted to inform you that I need not enumerate them here because of the space crunch.

I am reminded of this marketing gimmick every other day. A week back, it was Father's Day. Social media was abuzz with wishing and kissing fathers a good day. Some have dipped into their old albums which, otherwise they hardly open and posted the photos of their departed fathers on Facebook and other sites.

Remembering living or departed parents in the peace and calm of your heart is one thing and making a show of it entirely different thing. It is sheer hypocrisy. Forgive me for being old-fashioned.

Give them the respect and care they deserve during their lifetime.

    (Father’s Day-

Sonora Smart Dodd, a resident of Spokane, Washington, raised by her widowed father, is recognized as the founder of Father’s Day. Mother’s Day became a holiday in 1914, the second Sunday in May Father’s Day in 1966, third Sunday of June every year. )

The title is very apt. For many it is always just a day or Night. But fir business men some days are very special as the sale of their wares or booking of restaurant tables would peak as the artificial day approaches. News oapers the wirld iver and medua go abuzz with huge expensive ADs. Fathers and mothers are happy that a day is dedictaed so that their wards remember them.

I think it is only the tip of the iceberg. With AI artificial intelligence propelled by ChatGPT and similar, they may even tell the father or mother you think you have are not yours one day.

Imagine a book with 300 pages, filled with text on every page from left to right, top to bottom, not an inch spared. It would be tedious to read even if the content was captivating. Next, visualize the same book with paragraphs, chapters, few blank sections, title for each chapter, and maybe some images. Further, add color to the book.

Life without special days would be boring. So, we have festivals and other celebration days. These can be Father's Day, Grandparents day, International Yoga Day, or Saptami's, Ekadashi's, Navami's and Jayanthi's. And, then we have our personal marker days such as the first time met life partner, first positive pregnancy test, or more somber ones like the day that would have been the birthday of a baby that never saw the world.

These "artificial" days are like the transparent sticky tabs to highlight some words of the book called life:

I agree here. The possibility is huge. This reminds me if Ken Follett novel
the Third Twin written in1976 envisage such happenings through genetic engineering .

To appreciate better this situation gist in link here can be read:

Good analogy. It depends on what the book is about. If the subject is interesting, the only curiosity will be the end. I have a book with paragraphs running into two/three pages.
I believe that mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, and brothers, all are in the realm of personal space. Why would someone want to know how the family celebrates them? Interestingly, all these days started in the USA which follows a market economy.
I can understand religious days, national days, yoga days and others that relate to all common people and must be celebrated publically.
There is a difference between Independence Day and Mothers Day.
More importantly, as I said give them respect and care in their lifetime, there will be no need for 'Days'.

Good. There was a story where the grown-up son came to know that he was an adopted child. His whole concept of parents changes.

Rakshabandhan and Karva Chauth, festivals that mark personal relations - we get together and celebrate them with family, friends and neighbors?

Yes. Unfortunately, these two days are also getting materialistic. The value of the gift is more important than the love and emotions.
On a lighter note, when will husbands do some Chauth for their wives?
