Now that we got "Nita" issue out of the way, here is my two cents:

    1) "Divorce" as a term is relatively new to Indian community. However, the process of spouse desertion is not. I feel the stigma is against the "term" more than the process!

    2) Lack of proper book keeping: if we had accurate stats on the number of polygamy, wife killing, spouse desertion cases, the numbers would significantly supersede today's registered divorce cases.

    3) All the other previously mentioned reasons: women liberation (if you will ;), men getting stagnated in previous generation, change in priorities etc are factors too.

Why the No. of Divorce Cases are Increasing ???

    Dear Friends
I think its a fact that the no. of divorce cases in this generation are too many as compared to the previous generations.
Please pour in your views and opinions on why the divorce case are increasing. Where is the loop?

Re: Why the No. of Divorce Cases are Increasing ???

    \Hi,
    i think its cos of
    - low tolerance
    - knowing that society accepts being single and u dont have to suffer just to keep the family unit together...
    - education
    - marrying late....(u are less likely to adjust as u grow older)

i am not saying any of the above is bad...but its just causes...and I strongly believe...divorce isnt as bad as living a life u dont want to live....

    cheers
    a working mum and wife!
