    Hi,

I would like to know if technical/programming/coding skills are needed for an entry level data analyst job which I'm considering. One friend told me that its all on-the-job training and we dont need technical skills. Does anyone of you ventured into data analyst career from scratch and share your experience, it will be helpful.

If you can get training on the go it is always best.
But for your question -yes you do. To market your resume, to give a self introduction about your technical knowledge. It is always good to have some basic understanding.

In YouTube, udemy, udacity websites you will get courses from beginner level to experienced.

SQL, plsql, Ms Access, Excel with vba, ssis, ssas, etc there are so many courses which you can choose.

Being a data analyst you need to play with data. It is a good career. All the best.
