    Hi Ilites,

May be for some people my question looks weird. But it is related to emotion of women. In india, generally we hate to show our internal body parts to any other male except husbands. we will cover even our bra strip while we are with secondary male(other than husband/lover)

But in the same india, i faced a situation where other male can touch my internal parts and can see me in nude position in front of other women. that place is Labour room during my first delivery.

still, that situation is bitter in my throat, May be most of women faced this situation i think. Do we have right to demand for total women occupied labour room? do we have right to oppose any male person entry in labour room during delivery?

i agree if we dont have Female resources to complete that delivery procedure. but we had now lot of chances specially in cities corporate hospitals.

it is certainly possible to ensure a women only environment in a Labour room. If you have conveyed your concern to the obstetrician, she would have ensured that the only women environment wasprovided to you in Labour room. It's very simple and very much possible. Male obstetricians are less in number; male nurses are less in number.... on your day, they could be kept outside in some other duty and remaining all supporting staff are basically women.

Of course, such a women only environment cannot be achieved in operation theatre, in case you have to undergo a cesarean section. Because lot of Technical staff of operation theatre and anaesthetists will be men.

But in a simple Labour room, ensuring women only environment is fairly possible. In many such deliveries, I have seen such women only environment created especially for honouring a few womens' individual sensibilities.

Next time ,ask for it well in advance; your Obstetrician will do it. Easy and possible, except in a Medical College Hospital.

I didn't think so much about this aspect..if it's an elective C section or normal delivery maybe u can request, but what if it's an emergency C section procedure..people who are doing that particular shift or on call that particular time will only attend to u..this includes specialists, junior doctors assisting the surgeon and any nurses or paramedic staffs...maximum gynecs are ladies, but the doc assisting the gynaec maybe a male also, and the anesthesiologist may also be a male...and I don't think it's really a big deal as they all are medically trained people, they have seen it all..and all strategic parts are covered by sheet.
It's more important to get well trained competent people than to stress on only ladies to be present in the labour room..just my opinion.
