Anyone Using Rice Cooker For Any Other Recipe Other Than Rice.

I use it to steam veggies. Steam modaka. I have seen it been use to cook- pulao ( Haven't tried it)

 

I cook pongal, vegetable pulov, in it.

dry roast moong dal on a pan, give tadka with ginger etc, add enough water to the vessel and cook,
pulov also same in a pan fry all masalas and vegetables add it to the rice and switch on the cooker

For vegetable saute, the recipe book you got along with the rice cooker might have some recipes in it.

 

Wow Kashmirflower, that's like full use of the rice cooker

 

I use t to prepare biryani,pulao, steam kollukattai,steam momos n idiyappam. I heard about cooking one pot pasta but haven't tried it yet.

 

Momos too you can steam, idli (my mom)

 

I used to make Rajma and chole in it.
Make the normal onion tomato ginger garlic type masala.Add soaked rajma ,chola and let it simmer for a long time.
One thing I realized is that the liquid does not reduce ...so the water has to be less . You can always add more water later on if it is too thick.

 

I make milk pongal,ven pongal and veg pulav in rice cooker
