I can totally sympathise with you as I am in the same boat as you. I once wore my salwar inside out to college and had tough time being teased and mocked all day. Ever since I hate salwar kameez and am almost always seen in jeans!

My kitchen is a mess and my maid is always frowning and mumbling as soon as she enters to clean it. The fact is I get distracted. When I am cleaning if there is a phone call or some such thing I rush to that and forget all about the cleaning. At work, my mailbox is so cluttered I always miss out the important mails. Its been 5 years and yet I havent been able to sort it out.

For the last few months I have been struggling to come up with a study schedule. One day I start with all my energy and the next day I prioritise some other task leaving the one i began hanging in mid air. And my biggest problem, I imagine I can do a zillion things at the same time. In short I am "clutter" personified.

@teacher: Thanks for the book you suggested. I will read it up immediately. BTW in the link you mentioned, there is a quiz to test ADHD and i scored a whopping 107! Do i have hope?

Sigh, I cant believe I have company, I have never met another girl with the same problems!!

The website says it can be changed, but it requires a lot of effort! For example I have started to follow the wallet, phone, keys rule religiously.. ie, when getting out of the house, you have to check 3 times if you have your wallet, phone and keys. If you don't you cannot get out of the house..

Another thing is , if we put effort, it makes us look like we are very obsessive. People always comment that I am in a hurry/detached when I interact with them..

    Hi IJM and Bes,
Chin up...these skills can be learned to a certain degree...but first, don't diagnose yourself yet! Read read and read about it...not wiki articles but a lot of professional organizations put out information. Then go talk to someone in this field...they will have a better insight into what should be done.

Remember the online questionnaires are only to get you thinking to understand how you function better.

I will try to post a couple of good blogs by some ADHD coaches...I always tell myself I should organize the links when they are sent out but put it off...something for me to work on!

Btw, there are some great organizing kits out there (not diaries but other stuff). Will try to post those also.

IJM the key is to start with a few goals...otherwise it can be overwhelming. Go over your daily routine and prioritize the things you want to change/learn first.

Thank you so much!! Occasionally I shall make a log of what I goofed up and what i did right so that I can get some tips.
Yesterday I wrote in a clean sheet of paper where I want to go.

But today morning after I woke up, I saw that I had brought the remote control with me to the bedroom

    IJM,

In the scheme of things, are you just annoyed that you brought the remote to ur room or is there a more significant reason that you mention it? If it is just one example, I would let it go...and look at thing which have a bigger and more immediate impact.

You say you wrote things down...now put them in order-most important to least important (or affect the quality of your life most to least).

I am annoyed that I brought it without being conscious of it..
Last week , I was making a list of things I need to have with me when I go out,ie,purse, car keys and mobile. I took everything with me. On the way I felt hungry and felt like having a slice of pizza but then I changed my mind. Afterwards I wanted to take out one of the business cards from my purse and I was shocked to see that I didn't have my purse. I was almost sure somebody stole it as I remembered taking it with me .. Then I came home and guess what, it was on the top of the shoe rack. I had kept it there when I was putting on my shoes.. My drivers license was also n the purse.. What if I had ordered the pizza? How embarrassing it would have been..

    OK,
you made the list...you used it to pack your things...that is great. You forgot just before you left the house...have you tried pasting the list just by the door so that you can use the checklist as you leave? Do you use apps on your phone? if you do, you can even develop the habit of checking that before you step out.

Hi teacher, thank you for your reply. And I shall follow that..

The biggest challenge is my lack of direction sense. Like I wouldn't know how to come out of a place without someone assisting me. Often, I become aimless forgetting why I really came here. It makes me socially very awkward.

Another thing I have faced is often people misunderstand me for being very defiant/disobedient.
I understand how frustrated they can get when I keep doing the same thing again and again inspite of them reminding me and telling me what needs to be done! :(
