Is this a simple or complicated UTI?

    Unsure

patient thinks he has UTI based in symptoms he once had when he was diagnosed with uti

thinks lower back pain is from paining bladder

Soecialist doesn’t think its uti, but prescribed 500 mg twice a day for two weeks anyway

The doctor doesn’t think it’s a UTI because they did a urinalysis and urine culture and ruled it out?
What was the diagnosis for which Cipro was prescribed?

Paining and burning urination (worse than usual, has enlarged prostate)

White blood cell count is high

Urine oh is high, 8,5, when normal is 8

and person is drinking 12 oz of water, plus liquids from fruits, etc. basically taking double the liquid intake required (gradually increased so as to not disturb Sodium, etc balance)

He thinks Urilogjst prescribed Cipro because he had no idea how else to help (patient was already taking meds for enlarged prostate for past several years)

    they didn’t do culture

primacy care physician ordered urinalysis, but they are not allowed to prescribe Cipro. She advised to go to urologist

You should ask the prescribing doctor why they gave Cipro, since it is generally not a first-line antibiotic for straightforward UTIs. There many be other conditions that made this the medicine of choice. Cipro is effective but can have some side effects.
12 oz of water is very little if that is a daily amount. At least 8 glasses of fluids are advised per day: 64 oz.

    12 glasses, not 12 oz

    I mis typed

12 glasses, plus liquid from fruits, etc

    in effect, 16 glasses

Patient will see another urologist Scheduled fir the last day of taking Cipro (ironic)

current Urologist is not too knowledgeable, plus it seems that dept in that hospital is having poor management (secretaries and Doctors are disgruntled alike)

so far, Patient is not reporting side effects from Cipro (maybe because of other ailments, he is not noticing, that is my guess)

the prescribing urologist gave Cipro because this Patient asked.

this patient gave Dr lot of his medical info.

and oatient was in horrible pain when going for number 1.

if we ask Dr why he prescribed he will say because
Patient has more burning and paining when going for number 1
Patient has higher urine acidity even though he is during double amount if liquid (in other words, even after flushing out, the ph is still high)

but Accor to Oatient, Dr gave Cipro because he didn’t know how else to help patient

patient is seeing another urologist next week+
