    Have been there several times. This is one of my favorite places in India. The temple at night with all the lights on, early morning as the sun rises, the langer..I love everything about the Golden Temple. This place is so peaceful that even an atheist like me finds peace too.
    I don’t think painting will be a problem unless people admiring your work irk you. Anywhere you go in India, people will stop to watch what you are doing and will ask questions. If you can handle all the attention, it will be a rewarding experience.

    I visited Sri Harmandir Sahib many many years ago. What I remember most is the serenity that descends on you minutes after you set foot on the grounds. I ate langar there, too. Best meal I had in Amritsar that trip! :)

    How I wish they have direct flight from USA to Amristar ---- I'd hop on the next plane!

    For the langar or the temple ?

    Btw you can go to any gurudwara in the US on a Sunday and have some good langar. :yum:
