    Hello ILs,

I need some help from you. My mom who is 66 and has no other health issues, has been recently complaining about burning sensation on the bottom (on the butt skin) when she sits for more than 10-15 minutes. She is quite thin. So much so that she has stopped sitting anywhere for more than 5-10 mins. She even does pooja (worshiping God) standing by keeping the idols on a platform. This has been happening for last 2 months or so. She has stopped traveling since she cannot sit for prolonged periods (in fact not even half an hour). She showed to various doctors but they seem to guess nerve problems, stress related etc etc, but nobody seems to be able to put their finger on the exact reason why this is happening or associate it with any condition. I googled the symptom, but did not find a webmd page or a medical condition web page, that usually comes up when you google something popular. I just found a few scattered posts talking about something like this but with no conclusions.

If anyone of you know what this could be and what it is called, it would be really helpful. Also, pls let me know of possible cures.

    Thanks Ladies!

Hemorrhoids, maybe? Does she feel constipated or anything... constipation could lead to hemorrhoids that can be pretty painful.

I heard from others that this is a problem with a broken/damaged bone. This bone can press a nerve under your skin thus it can cause burning sensation.
Meet an orthopedic surgeon and consult whether your mother has any bones related problems. Also, you may find symptoms like backache or hip pain.
But somepeople say the skin and that area can go numb, thus no symptoms like back pain.
So, an xray or scan can identify the cause of this problem.

Give these info to your Dr when consulting, it can help him towards diagnosis

Is it only burning sensation or she finds numbness in her butt and pain.. sometimes the pain can be felt as burning when the pain threshold is high.
If skin rashes are ruled out it could be sciatic radiation . Just guessing please check with your doctoe

I have dryness on my finger tips for quite sometime now. Have been to various dermatologists but in vain. Sometimes the cuts occur and they burn. I would like to know what remedy works for you. I have been prescribed QV intensive cream to apply but seems a temporary remedy.

P.S. sorry OP I don't intend to hijack your thread.

Could be some fungal infection. Better get checked out with a dermatologist first.

    Hi Naari,
Hope your mother gets relief soon. Years ago my mother-in-law also used to complain of burning sensation in her lower leg-we took her to many doctors but no relief. Probably you could try Ayurveda or any other alternate medicine. Sometimes they do work.
    Regards,

Thanks SGBV, I really think this one is a strong possibility esp because one of the doctors said it is nerve related. I think this is what he might be hinting to. But, since no 2 drs have said the same, we are kind of confused. Let's see she is going to have one more dr's opinion.

I also said the same thing, but she does not have pain all the way to the top or nerve pulling sensation which happens in sciatica, so don't know. But based on what @SGBV says, maybe the area is numb and she doesn't feel the pain. But, I think it's one of these. Let's see, will let you guys know when we get to the root cause.
