I am new to Coimbatore and would like to know if there are any specific stand-alone shops which specialises only in idly dosa batter,I dont want to get the ones sold at normal grocery shops. In chennai there is one called Padma Foods which is a separate shop which sells only hygenically made and packed Idly Dosa batter, any idea, any area is fine.I have a 2 yr old and dont t give the ones I see at normal grocery shops.

    Thanks.

    Hi Satin,

I'm residing in CBE. My suggestion is not to give any food items to babies, which you bought from outside or idly/dosa batter bought from outside.

You know earlier I was the one who give idly made from maavu bought from outside to my baby (now he is 2.4 yrs) regularly. I bought it regularly from a separate shop which sells only idly maavu (in sidhapudur area). Once he got stomach ache and loose stools. Doctor said to totally avoid foods from outside..He got stomach infection!

You can prepare idly in home itself, without using wet grinder or table top. Mixie will do for it. Add some cooked rice with soaked idly rice when grinding for making idly soft. Now I'm regularly preparing idly maavu freshly every evening and using next day morning. The composition of idly is 4:1 idly rice and urad dal with little methi and little cooked rice (to make idly soft)...

    Hi AncySanil,

Thanks for the suggestions and your advice,I am indeed shocked to hear this.Usually I do prepare batter at home, but I am managing the baby alone with no help so sometimes I feel sooo tired to prepare batter at home,so in those times I just wanted to buy a packet or two only and that too I dont wanted to give normal store bought batter.Hmmm I will give a thought about it.Thanks for your advice.
