Hi, I am planning to for Executive MBA this year, and being in Pune my best choices are SIBM and SCMHRD.

I would like to know which of these is a better option. Bith the courses are of teh same duration, but SIBM offers only general management subject and an MBA without specialisation and SCMHRD offers specialised MBA (finance, HR, etc). This is one of my concers. Also, do these colleges offer a post-graduate degree or only a certified course.

Also, would like to know if doing an EMBA is recognised in industry and given due weigthage.

Any help that would give would be appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi Gayathri,

Did you got any information about which course is better. Have you joined the course?
I am also planning to go for executive MBA (preferably HR), please give me any details/suggestion you have.
Currently I am into IT, will shifting to HR be difficult?

I opted or SIBM against SCMHDR (heard that they had started for HR and are the best in it and was not lookng for HR specifically).

I took the form for SIBM this year. They had mentioned min. 3 years experience, I was almost that far, that's why go the prospectus and form. But it was in the form that they have mentioned the exact dates before which 3 years should be finished and I was short of 1 month!:bonkSo, I am going to reappear next year again!:spin

But if you ar looking for HR, I think you should go for SCMHRD, they are the best in it I have continuously heard so. SCMHRD also required min 3 years exp, and I think its not difficult at all to jump to HR from IT, my cousin is going the same.

But SCMHRD admissions and entrance test dates are gone, you might have to wait for the next year for it. Have you tried to see the EMBA in PUMBA (thats a new course they started a few years back). PUMBA is also considered a good college. But my guess is that this year's admission is over, but do look at their site.

Yep. Thats correct SIBM and SCMHRD are both colleges of Symbiosis.

Here are the links for their courses
    SIBM's EMBA
    SCMHRD's EMBA

Here is the link for PUMBA (Pune University) EMBA
:: PUMBA :: Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune

As i had guessed the dates have gone, and their criteria for taking in students is also a bit different, Read the website, they have it in details!

Usually timing are after February of the year, they start giving prospectus and all.

Rima, I will be again appearing for the entrance next year and they have more of English and Maths for the entrance tests. I had joined CAT classes long back and have their course material with me and I would be refering to them. I had appeared for the entrance for the Post graduate diploma instead of EMBA (figured I had already purchased the form so why not use it for something) and they have a lot of questioned for verbal and essays. They has soooooo many questions that was really based on English (I was surprised because really I am quite sure MBA grads do need more than just english!:bonk)

But EMBA exam lasts half an hour longer than the one I gave and I figured EMBA entrance has more questions in Maths.!

    Dear Gayathri,

sure will help you my sis asked you to send the syllabus.let and see what they offer. Executive MBA is a new name given.this is basically a course where the subjects are more. She asked you to try it in Pune university. She passed her MPM from Pune university. She feels it is important to check and see if there are any maths related subjects and you are comfortable with it.

Dear Nitya, thank you for your help and especially taking pains to ask your sister about it to help me. I am glad to have your sis's opinions. I had a very rough look at the syllabus, but I will have a more careful look at it to see if I am comfortable around it.

I think thats a good point that you put in - to write compositions based on pics/notes. I think these are like there in the MBA curriculum as a part of team effort. They give a picture to a small team and ask them to think what the picture signifies and come up with a good explanation for the same. I think the best place for this would be Education & Personal Growth forum(I think)

You can urge more people to come share there compositions too on the same topic.

I know this is very old thread, but its relevant to me so posting here. I am planning to do executive MBA from Pumba this year and my entrance exam is on 15th May. I would like to know if anyone has done this MBA, what is difficulty level of the entrance test, which books I can refer. Is there any free mock test series available. Any help would be very much appreciated.
