Today I read article about wedding, coincidently I found just opposite my snippet another thread titled with Tie The Knot At Extravagant Wedding by @jayasala42 .
This incident took place in Karnataka, A doctor who had eco friendly marriage at her family picturesque farm.
Her wedding has no event manager,no makeup person.
It was simple with abundant of love and happiness of near and dear.
Her wedding didn't have any plastic or any unnecessary wastage.
Her Wedding Mandap made with sugarcane,Mango and coconut leaves.
Food served on banana leaves and family rented steel cutlery for other purpose to be served in marriage.
For washing hands they placed water drum with mug,it was placed in such a way that water would go to the trees.
They refrained from installing taps to prevent excess water usage.
Garland made of local flowers and cotton thread.
The bride did her own makeup, saree dropping was done by relatives and hairstyling by her friends.
The return gifts were given which was made of jute.
The wet waste was used as composted in the farms, decoration used for mandap they chopped up which was served to animals.
The boxes, which carried the clothes which was bought for guests, were sent recycling.
At the end of marriage, they cleaned and waste was returned to nature.

    Regards
    Ratna

Kudos to @RatnaMalliswari for sharing her reading of an article about a wedding in a farm house celebrated altogether in a different manner and elan using mostly only natural materials with waste generated either going back to Nature or to recycling and minimal.
Many environmental eco conscious affluent in cities trying to bring in eco friendly products in parties including weddings.
Ostentation pomp are avoided and invitation cards carry printed message in bold letters " shall thank you for not bringing any gifts" .

I was invited for a function by Indira Siva Sailam Foundation at Music Academy. There was a caterer with huge open kitchen and eatables served on banana leaf/cups under a pavilion and
eatables are prepared according to the demand.

No splurging no ostentation no pomp. In nice jute bags invitees were gifted the pocket edition of Bhagavat Gita.

    Dear Ratna,

Today youngsters are turning back to being eco friendly. Some realise lots of damage has been done to earth.
My nephew's close friend choose to get married in the registered office. The total invitees were only 10 apart from his parents and the bride's parents.
Though the parents were disappointed, the young couple said they would donate the money to animal welfare.

    Regards
    Uma

    Hello @umaakumar
Being moderate has become difficult for people, now a days they want more sumptuous and lavish celebrations.
It's has become trend and common to be pretentious.Every want to be ultra wealthy and maintain status quo.
My mom says my generation earn more but don't know the value of it.
She says, they used to invite near and dear for any occasion, they bless and togetherness of all spread love, more positive vibes.
I appreciate my self for knowing there are many who know art of spending in this generation too.
    Regards
    Ratna

    Dear Madam,
How I wish that at least 50 percent of the marriages are celebrated in the way you have described in natural surroundings ! Only if the well to do start observing such methods, it will be easier for the persons of lesser status to follow.Glad that a beginning has been made.As you said now the trend is extravaganza and to help misc business thrive.
