[JUSTIFY]It is time for annual medical checkup. Everyone at home is under substantial pressure. A post card arrived in the mail indicating that it is time for the medical checkup. Immediately, my wife informed me about it and asked for what would be a good date in my calendar. After checking my calendar, I confirmed that Friday of that week was the best date with least number of conference calls and meetings. We decided the time slot that was ideal and made a phone call to fix the appointment with the doctor.

It is always very stressful to keep an empty stomach on the day of the examination. Anytime, someone is going to put a needle into the body to draw out blood to do an analysis, check weight, take X-Rays, etc. before a doctor examines gives significant amount of stress. We would like to know the results of the examination as soon as possible to stop the mind running wild. Sometimes, we wonder whether it is worthwhile going through the annual exam to keep fit or just leave everything to the hands of the Universal Absolute and let Him drive the health.

Somehow, going alone to such an examination is not an option and therefore, my wife and I always go together for the annual physical. We both do a lot of prayers before, during and after the annual physical. The whole family somehow feels that one person’s life and health as so critical for the happiness of the entire family. No one likes to hear a health condition that requires taking prolonged treatment in the form of shots or medication.

The strict instruction is not to give anything other than water after 12 mid night until blood work is done the next day. Luckily, the physician has the lab located inside the clinic and provides results immediately after the analysis. Finally, the D day arrived and we left to the clinic with a lot of anxiety. As soon as we walked into the clinic, a nurse said, “Hi Honey, how you doing? We haven’t seen you in a while. You are so cute and I always enjoy your company.” She asked us to wait in the examination room after checking the weight. Finally, the physician came in and checked the body temperature, opened the mouth to check the teeth and pressed the belly gently. She logged into the computer and checked the medical history at length and told the details of the procedures to be done for the day.

We handed over the custody to her good hands and walked away with the hope that we can see him again in the next couple of hours. Yes. I am talking about the annual examination of our hero Orion. Until the call came in from the veterinarian that his health condition was okay, we remained tense all day. Every time, the phone rang, we all rushed to pick up the phone thinking the call was from the Vet.

Finally, she called to let us know that he was given all the shots, dentures were cleaned and there were no other health issues. We rushed immediately to pick him up and as soon as he saw us walking into the clinic, his tail started wagging vigorously. We melted in his love and came to the conclusion that we could do anything for this wonderful member of our family.

Awww..... that is so sweet. Was under the impression that it was an annual med check up for you and your wife till you said "handed custody ....". At that point I felt a bit lost till I came to the point where you let us all onto the secret. :-D Lucky dog, Orion to belong to your family. :biggrin2:

    Dear Bhavna,

Thank you for reading this post and responding. It is true. We all like him very much because he is the only member of the family who is a) most obedient, b) never argues on anything and c) irrespective of who is at fault, he reconciles quickly. Who will not love him?

Thank you for your response. We are so happy to have him as a member of our family. His company gives us a lot of peace and happiness.

Kindly don't address me as Viswa Sir. I am your younger brother and you can address me by name.
