Kathleen O'Meara's poem, 'And People Stayed Home,' written in 1869.

    And people stayed home
    and read books and listened
    and rested and exercised
    and made art and played
and learned new ways of being
    and stopped
    and listened deeper
    someone meditated
    someone prayed
    someone danced
    someone met their shadow
and people began to think differently
    and people healed
and in the absence of people who lived in ignorant ways,
    dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
even the earth began to heal
    and when the danger ended
    and people found each other
    grieved for the dead people
    and they made new choices
    and dreamed of new visions
and created new ways of life
    and healed the earth completely
just as they were healed themselves.

    Very apt poem sir.
However, there is confusion on who wrote this.
Some say it is by Kitty O'Meara of Madison, Wisconsin.

    :hello:
Kudos to your selection that was written probably during Napoleon time
    While authoress remained in France.

    2. most appropriate poetry to post in these days of pandemic . Poem bespeaks of all negatives and positives in the same breath and heralds old golden days are going to be back here.

    3. I enjoyed reading it slowly and slowly to absorb.

    4. I found in google US lady had written almost similar poem that had remained trending for a long time . BOTH VERSIONS I READ IN GOOGLE. BOTH HEALS THE EARTH.
    Thanks and Regards.
