    My dear friends,

As we all witness the recent upsurge on assaults on women all over the country & it is a national shame to let it go unchecked by the law enforcing agencies as well as the general public to keep mum.

Time to weed out these anti social elements & teach them the toughest lesson is our Quest.
Recent weeks we come across incidents of misbehaviour with women as well as tourists like the incidents at Goa, New Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, and other parts of the country.

We assume that these shameful incidents reveals the indifference & moral callousness of Society to dignity & human rights of women, girls, tourists and the tribals.
The Media cannot be blamed for its highlights on such molestations cases or rape charges.
It is we general public's responsiblity to take the task of those who were responsible and handover to law enforcing agencies.
Even those Law enforcing agencies like Police misbehaves with women & it needs more stringent measures to punish those gullible cops & officers.
Politicians too find it a practice to victimize the innocent tribal women, poor for their lust.
It is a national shame & no one can relish such indecent moments of those guilty elements.
In the name of partying many youngsters, educated ones, political bigwigs and police officials go beyond their limits to molest, touch. tease, abuse, rape, flirt, passing unwanted comments, and ill treating of women.
This is happening every hour, every day throughout the year around the nation.
When can our women feel safe or our female tourists feel secure is the question now.
We need an awareness to locate these culprits and stringent laws to enforce with severe punishments.
Look at those incidents within these fortnight : Udaipur hotel incident in which the tourist was abused,
Juhu Molestations, Lattur dalit girls rape, Goan tourist rape, Cochin tourists molestations, Mumbai Taxi drivers assualt on women passenger, Mumbai BEST staff's rape on women passenger, Kalyan women rape by local youth, gang rape & murder of 13 year old at Ahmednagar suberbs, incidents at Lucknow, Nagpur incidents & Hyderabad students rape, Kolkatta women's abuse by political vandalism, Nandigram's women exploitations by CPM goons etc...still there are lots of such indecent sexual discriminations taking place...
Records shows that every day 18 women are being the victims of sexual abuse in our nation...
A disgrace to our Mother India and we feel shame to remain as mute spectators.
Funniest part is that those anti-social elements escape punishments for lack of witness or their influences in the society because of their money & political powers as well as lots of loopholes in the judicial systems.

All we can feel our nation is safe only when our women can go safe and secured while going out, or to office, school or workplace.
Women are not an object of Sex Symbol and they are the ones who build our family & society.
When we acknowledge the facts that women are to looked after well by our love and affections and not by abuses.
We have the social responsiblity and our Government has to look in to plug in loop holes in law & provide the safety & security to every citizen.

Let the future days be free of such shameful incidents & let our society respect the integrity of women.

    Hi Subbu,

Yes I too feel very strongly on this issue. Any kind of assault on women is unforgiveable.

Someone has so rightly said, "aurat nei janam diya mardon ko, mardon ney usey bazaar diya, jab jee chaha machla kuchla jab jee chaha dutkaar diya"

So very true. Today each and every female need to learn the art of self defence...as we can't keep waiting for the men to change their attitude towards women or the law and other concerned agencies to take care us.

Where there are cases of father raping the daughter...the question is where is our safety??

Very true and totally agree!!.. Subbu Sir, this is such a thoughtful thread!!..
and i completly second Roopa's comments on learning the art of self defence. It has to become a part of life for every girl and woman.

But subbu sir, i don;t think it is worth waiting for the government to bring a change as these predators are also politically linked.

I always felt that we as Indians were backed by strong culture & morality and now adaptation of foreign culture has caused so much insecurity and unsafe environment for women.

    Dear Shilpa,

Its so sad to know that we are adopting those western culture which are harmful...but not those which are good for us and our economy.

But the westerners are lapping up our culture and turning a new leaf.

    Roopa.

Women have been abused in all ways, physically, mentally & emotionally right from the old days. This attitude towards women partly stems from our ancient traditions of stepping down on woman as an inferior entity, partly from our films, where women are portrayed sometimes in a very indignified manner, and to most of the extent from the modern lifestyle we follow these days, which is just getting more and more hopeless everyday. Rant

In these circumstances, its very difficult to to control or prevent such cases, unless we very very strict punishments and laws without loopholes for the same. Fear of punishment alone can reduce the number of such incidents. God knows when all these reforms will be brought about ? bonk

I think first women need to stand up for women!
Mothers in law need to protect their daughters in law,
when a girl marries into a family, all members of the family should give her respect and protect her rights.
There are many educated, Indian women living all over the world who think nothing of harassing their daughters in law, or watching their sons/husbands do so.
There are many educated Indian women living all over the world who can treat a maid as sub human and think nothing of it.

Thank you our dear IL sugarnspice for the valuable feedbacks and thought provoking points.
It is a must for every member in the society to respect the other & treat them as equals.
Women & children are the pillars for the healthy society.
The more educations we give them, we can find the social changes & self dependance to lead the family.
Men behind them are the supports to let the family prosper.
Any atrocity against women & children are to be condemned and they need to be protected.
To day we are fortunate that many of our women folks are educated & matured enough to carry on the tasks better than that of yester years.
Let the society live in peace & harmony.
    Thanks for the kind observations.

That's a valid point from our IL Sumeru on media's bad exposures & treating them as objects of entertainments, films showing disrespect to women are to be condemned as well as any abuse against women has to be punished.
Plight of women is increasing day by day due to mass abuse and slavery treatments, be it a home or office, they are subjected to many hurdles and it has to be eradicated from the society.
We need more reforms & constant monitering of society's behaviours to arrest abuse & restore the dignity of women at any cost.
