    Satchi,
Many more happy returns of the day once again. As usual your reply has added one more dimension to this blog. Just doing our work without hurting others, having a kind word for those who interact with us.. I don't think no prayer can be holier than this.

I love the mantra you quoted. We use it with a slight variation. For the sake of others I'll give it along with the meaning.
This mantra is used when a Brahman is offering oblations to the Fire. He tells Agni, the fire God.

Agnaye Namaha: Oh Fire God, I worship you
manthra heenam - any deficiency in my chanting
kriya heenam - any deficiency in my ritual
bhakthi heenam - any deficiency in my devotion
huthaasana - oh, Fire God the one whose food is the oblations
yatthu thanthu mayadeva paripoornam thathasthuthee - whatever I do please make it perfect (that is remove the above deficiencies)
prayaschittan aseshani thapa karma aathma kaanivai of all the retributions
yani thesham aseshanam sri krishnaanu smaranam param -
the supreme retribution is nothing but thinking about Lord Krishna.

Chanting this sloka every day will take us closer to God.
    thanks for coming in, Saatchi

    Dear Lalitha,
All our pujas are directed towards a specific material goal. When you listen to the temple priest chanting the mantra before he starting the archana you will hear him talking about long life, valour, wealth and so many worldly things. Just being there for Her is the best form of worship. Just accepting whatever She gives, heaven or hell, is the best form of worship.
Shedding tears thinking of her is the best form of worship. When we fall in love we have to say "I love you" only for the first time. When the love is deep even if the lovers sit side by side doing nothing, the words 'I love You' is said again and again in the language of silence.
    thanks for coming in,
    love,
    sridhar

It is very nice Sridhar! After a long gap I logged into IL. I always use to wonder why people spend so much time doing pujas in fact sometimes straining themselves. According to me Love is there in the heart and I need not spend time in rituals. Your blog explained everything.

    Hello sir,

Yes whatever we do it should be done with pure affection, love and whole heartedly.Let us not worry about the result. The result will be a good one only. The way you have linked was simply superb. Well pointed out the below lines

If you are in love with God you can do anything. A ten-hour Pooja, an elaborate Yagam, fasting, all night vigil, anything. It has to be an expression of your love.

But if you don’t feel the love in your heart, doing a ritual for an ulterior motive is as heinous a sin as buying sex for money. Don’t ever do that.”

thanks a lot Manjula. And yes. welcome back to IL after a long gap. I have been holding this view of no-ritual for a long time. In fact I don't feel like visiting a temple, especially the crowded ones. I am happy to see you have similar views.
    thanks for coming in,

    Hello Shreemathi,
Not only we should not worry about the results; but we should not do anything in the first place if there's no love in our heart. We can't be doing something because our mil or our spouse compels us to do that.
    thanks for coming in,
    rgds
