A former American President is relected to become 47th President of the United States. This time he won the popular vote besides winning the electoral college avoiding the controvery that is always created that popular vote winner is eliminated due to a handful electorcal college victory in battleground states. Now the winner's foremost duty is to unite the country and explain his policies to grow the economy, control the Southern border, balance the budget, reduce the national debt, reduce the size of the government, etc.

President elect has promised to remove tax on social security to the seniors. He also has promised to cap the interest rate on credit debts to 10%. He said no country will be allowed to charge tariff on the US good exports and if they do, their goods will also be targeted for tariff. He is aiming to reduce the inflation by reducting the cost of all day to day purchases of common man. He has also promised to drill more oil so that Gas prices will drop substantially. He promised to appoint Elon Musk to lead the role of reduction of government expenses including elimination of some departments. Robert Kennedy Jr. will lead a role in healthcare revamping. Department of Education, and Department of Energy are the two major targets to reduction of employees. I understand 7 states have overwhelmingly approved abortion to be incorporated as law at the state level except Florida which failed because it is 3% less than minimum of 60% required to pass.

People are anxiously waiting what would happen to the Iran's all out attack on Israel and Israel's aggression in Gaza strip. They are also wondering how war between Russia and Ukraine will come to an end.

All the world leaders have sent their congratulatory notes to the President elect including European world leaders, Australian Prime Minister, Indian Prime Minister and many of Mideastern leaders. Now that the Senate is under the control of the Republican party, the President can appoint people of his choice and get them confirmed quickly in the Senate. We are still anxiously waiting who is going to control the House and we will know it by tomorrow hopefully.

Good summary of what awaits us but I am still brooding on why Kamala Harris lost. It was not a surprise but still so hard to digest. Too many missteps on her part, and above all, she didn't have enough time or leeway to distance herself from Biden and his policies.

    @Rihana,

Thank you for your response. I agree she made too many missteps.

    1) When Biden was not having the best approval rating and Democrats wanted him to be out, she didn’t distance herself from him at least during campaign.

    2) She should have encouraged a nomination process allowing others to contest without becoming a de facto nominee. This was a big talking point in the right wing media.

    3) Both Biden and Kamala dragged their feet allowing the people in Gaza Strip suffer way too long because of Israel resulting in all Muslims in Michigan voting for Trump.

    4) They addressed the border issue almost at the end of their 4 year rule which was a major issue for all Americans.

    5) She didn’t release substantive economic policy and at best her policy frame work was just a word salad.

    6) She and Democratic Party didn’t do enough when RFK Jr was in the fray allowing him to align his 10% plus votes to Trump.

    7) Despite all promises to focus on American people, way too much campaign ads were focused on Trump than policies.

    8) She had very little time to fight the battle and on top of it Biden called Trump supporters garbage. This is equivalent of Hilary’s deplorable comment.

    9) Campaign strategy was flawed from the beginning by adapting 2020 strategy. This election was in 2024. Even though campaign said they are focused on the future, their campaign was brooding mostly about 2016-2020 rule, J6 and all prosecutions against Trump.

Democrats did not convey their successes on the economy effectively. Their “woke agenda” was unpopular with most people. They also seem to have lost the ability to connect with working class voters. They do not have giant propaganda megaphones on TV and social media. Legacy media made much of Biden’s age but glossed over the same issues with Trump. The illegals immigration issue was a real albatross and allowed the GOP to relentlessly hammer away. Harris could not escape Biden’s high unpopularity ratings and she only had 3 months to run her campaign. Misogyny also played a significant role even if no one will admit it. Dems also made a mistake taking Hispanic voters for granted. Trump got historically high support from this bloc. The polls totally did not capture the undercurrent of support for Trump. People saw a convicted felon, cult leader and rapist and still voted for him over the alternative.
At the end of the day the Democratic Party got a shellacking. I hope they do some serious soul searching as to why instead of just screaming insults at the opposite party.

    Dear Viswa,
America is blessed with a baby boy.Goal post as well as Road map are clear. As events unfold it will become clear whether the promises can be translated into realities without ruffling a few feathers.Tariff hike means less access to cheaper goods.Restricting authorised immigration means expensive labour with a cascading effect on the cost of goods and services. But Trump is an honourable man.Right or wrong there will be clarity co existing with Unpredictability.I was in US when Ronald Reagan beat Walter Mondale.Sans my presence I felt the same excitement, this time too.
    Regards

This defeat is a big eyeopener for Democrats and I assume there will be a lot of soul-searching in the near future. The first bullet went out from Vermont already even though he only caucuses with Democratic Party. I thought even in 2016 and 2020, Hispanic overwhelmingly voted for Trump. But this time, Muslim population decisively voted in favor of Trump because of continued war in Gaza strip. Michigan has high volume of population of Muslims. The decision-making was serieously affected during the period 2020-2024 which was a major issue and people believe Trump will decide things faster.

Regarding Misogyny, I also felt bad that two women candidates (One White and one African American) lost the election and had that suspicion that America is not yet ready to elect a woman President. However, in my view, a lot of Americans didn't like Hillary Clinton due to her tainted background even though she was a decisive individual capable of running the office of the President. As far as Kamala Harris is concerned, many American believed she is weak and incapable of managing the worldwide leadership. So I still give the benefit of doubt to the Americans. But time will tell whether America is ready to have a woman President if anyone of these parties nominate a woman as their candidate in future. Mostly people didn't reject Kamala Harris because she was a woman at least they didn't tell that explicitly. 7 states agreed with Kamala Harris in her view of the Government not controling the body of women except Florida. Even Florida reached 57% falling short by 3% to reach the thresehold of 60%.

Tariff hike is planned only for the countries that charge Tariff for American goods. That is focus on balance of trade and balance of payments. Even India charges tariff on American goods while most of their goods to the US are not under tariff. Trump wants to negotiate that with Modi. China also charges tariff to the US goods which is why the Chinese goods are already under tariff. It is generating substantial revenues to the government even if the day to day price is higher.

Immigration is with reference to illegal immigration into the US and it is not going to substantially affect legal immigration including H1B. Trump even said those with college degrees will be offered a work permit and a path to Greencard. The delay in processing Greencard is due to excessive applications and not having enough ICE staff.

Trump is not happy about some of the Asian countries coordinating to bring an alternative currency to the USD. He will do everything to stabilize the USD and one such method is balancing the trade and payments. Even though many countries are working towards destabilizing the USD, they forget the world's largest economy is America and their import is essential for development and growth of economy for many countries. He has already said America has the largest oil reserve and he was going to drill so much to reduce oil imports from Mideast.

In an interview, Elon Musk already said Generative AIs first and foremost target will be to generate code based on a detailed design of an application software. If this happens, the software exports from many countries into the US will be largely affected. But it would take many years before this business drains down. Elon Musk is also going to play a major role in reducing the government cost and planning the economic policies. I honestly believe Republicans will focus more on balancing the budget, reduce debts, reduce government spending and don't initiate any new war.

Trump is a transactional leader and he is always looking for what is in there for the US before negotiating anything. There will be a lot of focus on American interest be it manufacturing, services, contribution to the UN, NATO or even in strategic partnerships. GE Engine deal may be renogitated (even though in America's point of view it is a bit outdated technology, it is used by most combat planes throughout the world), if India doesn't favorably consider military acquisitions in favor of the US.

Frankly, Biden is a nice man thinking about the common interest of the world but Trump is focused on national interest.
