I just read all of Akshatha's poems and I'm amazed.
At 10 yrs the way she looks at the world is so different - she's so sensitive, sounds so mature & responsible for her age.
Pls do give my best wishes to her.
I'm sure she's going to be a great poet -

hey ur daughter reminds me of he cheeni kum girl little one, so intelligent and the right words, it stumps u, like wise i have a follower in her for the trees, if all the children could wake up to this i am sure we can hope that the next generation atleast will try to bring back the beauty, but till then in our generation all would be lost right??/ keep it up little one, poor thing u r exposed too much to the misery of the days...regards sunkan

Dear Mrs. Sunkan, I am yet to watch the movie. Shall revert after watching. Thanks for your wishes. She likes reading a lot and knows a lot about Global warming, Environmental pollution and relative topics. Last month, we had a science club meeting in which children were asked to prepare a slide show on their favourite scientist. After the presentation, each child was asked to write a note as to what they would invent if they become a scientist. She wrote that she will invent a device to prevent air pollution. I think this is always in her mind and she wants to do something about it.

THE PENNY

Once there was penny,
Who was one year old.
It rolled & rolled,
Down the road.
Henny saw the penny,
And took it home.
Henny bought an ice-cream,
With the penny.
The shopkeeper took the penny home,
And kept it for a year,
For it was shining, You know?
The shopkeeper bought a cake,
With the penny.
The baker took the penny home,
And kept it for two years,
For it was shinning, You know?
The baker bought two eggs,
With the penny.
But do you think the grocer took the penny home?
No, not at all,
For it was no more shinning!
But what could the penny do?
But sit & cry,
Wee, wee, wee.

MAN THE, DESTROYER

Man is so bad,
As his past dad.
He is selfish,
He kills animals for dishes.
He is ungrateful,
To plants that are wonderful.
He pollutes the land,
And then cries handicapped are his hand.
Man is so bad,

DON’T CUT DOWN TREES

Don’t cut down trees,
They give us fresh air to breathe.
Don’t cut down trees,
They give us food to eat.
Don’t cut down trees,
They are living beings.
Just imagine,
If we were cut down,
By somebody,
The way we suffer with pain.
Oh! It’s so miserable.
The trees too feel the same pain.
So, don’t cut down trees.

WATER IS VITAL

Water is vital,
Water is vital,
We cannot live without it,
So, don’t waste it.
Water is vital.
When there is a drought,
The way the people suffer,
Is so terrible.
So, don’t waste water,
Store while you have it.
Water is vital.

Why does man?

Why does man?
Why does man?
Why does man kill another man?
Does a deer kill another deer?
Does a tiger kill another tiger?
Or, does a bird kill another bird of its own breed?
Then, why does man kill another man?
Even the five-sensed animals know,
The value of unity.
Then, why does a six-sensed man not know?
Why does man kill another man?

Hi ! Sujathe

Very beautiful poems for a ten year old. Especially of trees and water. Beautiful observation and thoughts.
And moreover when I read Kuwait made me write this. I too am in Kuwait Salmiya and my daughter too is ten years old, and Iam interested to know where u stay so our daughters can exchange their thoughts. My daughter though does not write poems she has written few text on water and trees and drawn few sketches on the same. Anyway, tell ur daughter to keep it up? Which school is she into?
