    hi,
    1. since her classmates are also in the bus...you could get to know them /visit them at their home to talk with their parents
    and befriend their parents first.

2.you can ask her to share sweets /snacks with her busmates....since it would atleast open a way to communicate.

    Thanks Uthara
But my daughter is very shy and would not venture on her own to make friends.in fact there is her own classmate who is next door neighbour but this litle girl has her best friend in the same bld and so she plays with her most of the time and I really dont think I can go and ask her mom to call my daughter to their place if they dont show any interest in calling her.I hope u understand what i am saying. I dont know what to do

    Hi Lakashmi,

Is it (NPS means North Primary School. )Find out whether, that yours daughter classmate are from your area. If so try to go early down and make freinds with their parents and aslo ask your daughter to talk to them and also ask their whether they are free to come down to park. This are very simple way. If you daughter is shy type you go personally and talk and slowly your will get use of it and make friends. This how i did when my children are young.

    bye

How to engage children at home??

    Hi friends,

Hope all are in your pink of health and spirits. I have a nine years old daughter who is very active always. Before coming to singapore we were in UAE and there children always used to play in the evenings. Here even though she has got a couple of Indian girls near by, their parents are not all that interested to send them to play stating examination, tuition etc. So she expects me to entertain her. I take her to the library, shopping and at times sit and play with her for half an hour after that I lose my patience. So, mothers with single child how do you engage them productively at home during holidays and in the evenings please share your thoughts which will really help mothers like me.

Re: How to engage children at home??

    Hi Suja
Common Problem in singapore I suppose. I had the same issue, but now, I feel more or less I can manage my son to involve him such activities in which he is interesed. Btw, I hav a 13 years old boy.

If she is like my son, ie..Not bookie type, then better not to take them to libarary..Infact i dont' take him to temple also :))
Well, as per my experience, I would suggest you to find your daughters interest. If she is interested in craft/dance/singing..you can enroll her in such activities...

How abt swimming and other sport activies. Please check your nearest CC, I'm sure, you will find something interesting there.

Lastly, I feel, if we hav a club/group where we can meet periodically to give them a platform to interact with other kids. I found that my son doesn't wants to play with other kids, or only with his classmates. Infact I made a rule for him to play soccer for an hour with kids around the block. My hubby plays and teachers him badminton....myself, watch tv (Dance india dance) with him ;-PP
