Aishwarya Bachchan has turned down Karan Johar's next film, saying the role was too sexy for her. BT explores the desi mentality to doing hot roles post marriage

Does getting married mean going superdemure ? Maybe for Aishwarya Bachchan it does. The Bachchan bahu, still Bollywood's number one female actor, has turned down Karan's Johar's next film, saying she would feel uncomfortable doing the role she was offered, in which she is cast opposite not one but two guys (hubby Abhishek and John Abraham).

This is in the aftermath of Dhoom 2 , in which her sexy, skimpy outfits and liplock with co-star Hrithik Roshan reportedly caused heartburn in the Bachchan household. On the other hand in the west, married mother-of-three Demi Moore learnt pole dancing and stripped off for Striptease, and actors like Sharon Stone, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek haven't been afraid to act sexy post marriage and babies, even as they have crossed 40.

So is Ash's attitude a little extreme? It's clearly a post-marriage mindset on her part.Especially since Karan Johar isn't known for making 'hot' films. He never goes beyond the pale. So what would she be required to do in that .

Actor Priyanka Upendra, who's looking great post marriage and babies and has continued her acting career, says it's about individual choices. "I wouldn't do anything to hurt my family, so I wouldn't do roles that would require kissing, for instance. But I also wouldn't like Uppi doing similar scenes either." While Priyanka admires Kajol's post-marriage Fanaa foray, she draws the line at doing Preity Zinta's Salaam Namaste role. "Although it was aesthetically done, I wouldn't be happy doing lovemaking scenes," she says. "Marriage means sacrifices if you want to sustain it. Maybe that's

why in the west relationships don't last that long and there are multiple marriages in Hollywood - everyone's so power-driven there. It depends on your priorities." Would she turn down such a role if she was offered it? "I'd discuss it with Uppi. I'd never say never as people can change, but I wouldn't do anything over the top. Nor would I do bahu-type roles - that would be too boring."

Aishwarya back home to celebrate her first karva chauth and Deepawali

Finally Aishwarya Bachan, star bahu of the Bachan family is back in India to celebrate her first Karva chauth and Deepwali after her marriage with Abhishek Bachan early this year. Aishwarya reached back home on Saturday from the Boston, where she was busy in the shooting of Hollywood movie The Pink Panth 2. Aishwarya Rai is playing a lead role in this movie and we will watch her as special expert providing help in solving the case of artefacts stealing. The Pink Panth, first movie in this series is already a big hit; therefore, Aishwarya will definitely have lot of hopes from this movie. So far, Aishwarya is not able to attain any significant success with her Hollywood ventures.

Presently, it looks that Aishwarya is one two week long holidays to celebrate her most important festivals after the marriage. Both Amitab Bachan and Abhishek Bachan were present on the airport to receive Aishwarya and even Amitab drove the car back home carrying her bahu, really a great show of love. Happiness on the face of Amitab bachan and Abhishek bachan was clearly visible to get Aishwarya back. Aishwarya Rai was also accompanied by her mother because she was also with her during the shooting of the movie. Tomorrow is Karva Chauth and this fast holds a great significance in lives of the married Indian women, therefore, hopefully Aishwarya will also perform her first karva chauth fast tomorrow for the long life of Abhishek Bachan.

Aishwaya might have done some Karva chauth fast scenes in movies but this real and difficult fast will definitely test the nerves of the Aishwarya Rai. After the Karva chauth, Aishwarya will also celebrate Deepawali with the bachan family. Bachan family must be feeling very happy to get their bahu back on this festival season. This festival season hold a good significance in India, with most of the people grouping with their families and friends to celebrate this festival. We can hope that Bachan family and Bachan bahu will have good festive season ahead and Aishwarya will be able to collect lot of happy memories of the festival season.

Mysterious Cash Parcel

Bollywood's queen Aishwarya Rai has been questioned by the customs department that stumbled upon a mysterious postal parcel addressed to her containing 65,000 euros (Rs.3.7 million) in cash. "The package was sent to Aishwarya Rai a month back from the Netherlands. We have sent her a notice regarding the package seeking her clarification and we are waiting for her response," Commissioner of Customs (Imports) A.K. Prasad said. "We are not disclosing the name of the consignee for sake of the investigation. The matter is being handled by the department's Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (Imports)," Prasad told. "We need to record Aishwarya's statement before we lodge any case in the connection," he added. Prasad said the cash was detected during a routine check of parcels at Mumbai's foreign post office. The parcel bore the address of the actor's Bandra residence. Aishwarya preferred not to comment on the matter. Efforts to contact her business manager-cum-spokesperson Hari Singh proved futile.

Abhishek's New Movie Drona!

It is being said that Abhishek's Drona will establish him as a numero uno Superhero out there. I don't know about that but the picture does look interesting, don't you think? It seems like a Mask of Zorro, Robin Hood kind of get up, which may not be entirely wrong as the movie is a fantasy, superhero flick.
The movie is being made by Goldie Behl and also stars Priyanka Chopra, Jaya Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon. The movie is supposed to be out soon and no release date has been announced yet.

Aishwarya Rai is not seen anywhere these days. She skips attending events and even shies away from accompanying hubby Abhishek or father-in-law Amitabh to any occasions! Even recently when the press spoke to Big B on the occasion of his birthday, they expected to get at least a glimpse of his beautiful bahu but unfortunately even that wish of theirs wasn’t granted.

We know that Mrs Bachchan has been shooting for Pink Panther 2 in Boston and Paris with Steve Martin sporting trench coats and metallic Christian Louboutin peep-toe shoes. We are also aware of the fact that she has just wrapped up the shoot of Sarkar Raaj in Hyderabad. But what is keeping her from making public appearances when she’s not shooting is what intrigued us!

Is her alleged pregnancy the reason as many would like to believe? As they always say in tinsel town... there is no smoke without fire. So is the news true?

“Ash has just finished shooting for Ramu’s Sarkar Raaj in Hyderabad. She was extremely friendly and had fun shooting with Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan. They enjoyed their stay in Hyderabad, behaved like a family but also interacted with other stars a lot. Not a single member of the Bachchan family acted high-handed. Abhishek was very protective of Ash and so was Amitabh”, says a source from the production team of Sarkar Raaj .

So is Ash really pregnant we probe? “The baby bump is definitely not the reason why Ash is not going public these days. At least the bump was not visible while she was shooting for Sarkar Raaj ” confirms our source.

The source further added saying, “Ash was heard requesting Ashutosh Gowariker to postpone the release of Jodhaa Akbar as she wanted Sarkar Raaj to release first, owing to it being her first film with her family (Abhishek and Amitabh) post her marriage. However Ashutosh wasn’t fine with the idea as the producers of the film weren’t okay with its further delay. Jodhaa was supposed to be released this Diwali! Moreover UTV wanted to stick to the release date of January 25 for Jodhaa Akbar since its the same day when Rang De Basanti released in 2006 and got a lot of acclaim to the banner”.

So will Sarkar Raaj release before Jodhaa ? We are waiting for the countdown to begin...
