I woud like to join here sharing a good moment with my loving sis...

I have a younger sister( 4 yrs younger than me).As everyone said we both used to fight during our childhood.I dont like her at all.She always tried to get good name from our mom by pulling me.....Later after years passed by we became good friends...

when she was in her 5 th class, during her birthday myself and my cousin sis wanted to gift her something. But we dint had much pocket money that time... we planned for a treasure hunt game for her; kept some 10 clues...we made her roam up and downstairs.... she enjoyed that too....

At last she took the last clue and was about to find our gift, she skid down in a step. But she was least bothered about that...All she wanted was to know what was her birthday surprise....

She found the gift at last well packed, rolled in bunch of color papers...she opened it with patience and found that there was only a dairy milk chocolate(Rs 5 only) in it....:rotflbut our birthday baby seemed to be so happy holding that chocolate in hands....:gift

That was a very nice moment we had together....:)

I love my sis a lot too .....

    Knbg,

That is a sweet poem dedicated to your sister! Thanku thanku for such a lovely thread to showcase our love to our siblings..:thumbsup

    To my sis,

Thanks for making me popular from day 1 in school where everyone knew me as so-and-so's sister. I loved the admiration you sincerely deserved but I selfishly basked in.

Appreciate the various magazines, story books, novellas you used to bring home opening gateway to a whole new literary world outside the academics. Mostly admired the way you sneaked in Harold Robbins and Sydney Sheldon evading hawk-eyed mom. :crazy

Loved the way you prepared my essays, summarized my debate points, prepped me for elocutions & imbibed in me a sense of holistic development when all I wanted was to doze off to sleep after eating a hearty meal. :tongue

Thanks for the pamper and indulgence when you took interest in cooking. The critic in me still says please not that Saturday Special dish! :rant

Still at awe at your readiness when buying the spooky dark-crusader-cuddly-soft-toy on my insistence. That is one of the cutest things I ever possessed, ironically it scared my room-mates.

Thanks for remembering my birthday and calling me every year though I try VERY hard to do the same for you..(mind, last year you almost gave up when I surprised you - don't expect the same for the next 10 years).

Thanks for your uplifting presence, believing in me, urging me to push myself more, compelling me to achieve more and teaching me to fly with wings when I doubted if I could ever walk.

Grateful that you were born before me. If I were elder to you, I would have given up on you long back! You stood by me with a formidable strength that weakened all my inhibitions - can I, will I? The answer was always a definitive 'Of course'. The almighty discovered that he erroneously sent down an angel to earth - made sure that an imp tagged along to balance the unsuspecting humans.

My sister is one of the best things that happened to me :) I would like to thank her for:

willingly giving away her share of everything, for the 'little one' at home
being a naturally gifted artist, who drew cockroaches, and amoeba in biology record books
doing night-outs to complete my essays and compositions, while I snored my way through
giving up her sleep to wake me up when my alarm goes off, so that I could prepare for my exams
pampering me with all that I wanted, ever since she started earning, and reminding me of all the things I wanted
being my back up when dad yelled at me, and taking my side
bearing the brunt of the blame, when me the mischief-maker did something stupid, and ran out of the place!
being my mom, when amma had to make trips, and cooked and fed me her heart out!
treating me like her first kid, and till date being my confidant!

Glad that I was the youngest. If I were the elder, I wouldnt have been the adorable sister that you were and are...!

What a wonderful snippet from your pen Bhargavi. So beautifully expressed.

I have a sister who is 10 years older to me. She has always played the role of a mother. Needless to say, from an age when I could communicate I have rebelled against her efforts to control me. I remember I used to call her Akka when I was a kid. Sometime around the time I was age 4 or 5 she gave me an option - stop calling her Akka if I wanted to fight with her or stop fighting with her if I wanted to call her Akka.
I thought the second option was highly unlikely, so since then she has been called by first name. :hide: :bonk

But that has not changed anything. We have our differences of opinions - bound to be there with such an age gap or even a generation gap, but that has not stopped us being there for each other no matter what. I might have my arguments with her or vice versa, but neither of us would be able to stand anyone saying anything bad about the other. I have seen tears in her eyes every time I left home, my husband told me how upset she was when she heard of my second surgery. I have heard the anger in her voice when she spoke of it to me after the event.

These are the little things that show us the place we hold in each other's hearts. :-D
