I remember so many events related to the Lord Vinayak .
In the yore of days I thought he was made of only Clay.
Later I learnt he could be in a deep well after few days of His Pooja. Later I came to know huge colourful idols of Vinayak made of plaster of paris and took around in huge vehicles through prominent roads of the city and eventually immersed in deep sea or river near coastal lands.
I remember this day I joined with mom & sister to prepare the mould and fix the sweet part I side the mould and cook it in pressure pans.
I do remember @Viswamitra would do the anniversary of his mother and later conduct the vinayakar worship.
I wish this day all active, hyperactive and dormant members of Indus Ladies community - a happy Vinayak Chadurthi.

    Dear Thyagarajan Sir,

Thank you for remembering my father's anniversary on Ganesh Chathurthi Day. Yes. Every year, we perform the rituals before we celebrate Ganesh Chathurthi. I still miss the days we lived in Lokenwalla Complex in Kandivli to watch those wonderful Ganesh Procession and Navarathri festivals. We used to have food stalls every night in the common areas so that the men returning home after work can enjoy nice Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada types of foods.

By mentioning Kandivilli lokandwala complex u had reminded me my 5 years for between 1970 -75 at Mahindra & Mahindra central JEEP PLANT. Am familiar with entire area from Goregaon to Dahisar on both sides of western express highway. I used to drive brand new olive green jeeps for testing on rough terrains near botivili national park and the camera caves steep slopes/ grades.
    Regards.

Hi thank u for being here. Modern illumination methods lend extra aesthetic to the Pooja venue. This here I did worship a tiny silver idol of Vinayak. In the Pooja we chant and for each mantra supposed to end with offering a particular variety of flower and leaf.

This year I did not get an umbrella for my Lord Ganesha. Our meal is outsourced.

Now-a-days the effort is more for alankar I mean decoration than the Pooja rituals. It is of course a get together for many families and combined feast. The festive flavour is more prominent in Maharashtra than in any part of Indian union.
In Tamil Nadu we have great celebration and KVIC creates a record in selling related Pooja products including the Ganesh Idols in various sizes and shapes.

This reminds me of a story connecting Ganesha and the moon. It is in link
    Moon Boon Lord & Kozhukattai
I hope you would find time to read the narration in link above and text feed back if any.

Decoration & offerings are eye-full. Thanks for the image. I touched it with my fingers and then with that fingures touched my eyes in worship.

Lalbaugcha Raja. Every year we queue up to have a glimpse and pray and revel in the grand worship of the Raja, Ganapati Bappa. Doesn’t matter the hours, days….. the moment we get to bow down in front of Bappa, all our fatigue vanishes and we feel like when shall we stand again in front of our Raja in worship. It’s so grand, so mesmerising, so pure, makes us so emotional, the feeling as though we are really in front of God and He looking right into our eyes, blessing us and filling our heart and soul with purity. The feeling is unfathomable, and cannot be described to the full in mere words. Ganapati Bappa Moraya……. Pudchya varshi lavkar yaa. With these chants, we look forward to another year with Bappa.
