    166. கொடுப்ப(து) அழுக்கறுப்பான் சுற்றம் உடுப்பதூஉம்
    உண்பதூஉம் இன்றிக் கெடும்.
    Kodupadhu azhukarupaan suttram udupadhooum
    unbadhooum inri kedum.

    பிறர்க்கு உதவியாக கொடுக்கப் படும் பொருளைப் பார்த்து பொறமை உடையவனின் சுற்றம் உடையும், உணவும் இல்லாமல் கெடும்.
    If a person who bear not the gifts given to others, he and his family will beg for food and clothes and finally perish.

    167. அவ்வித்(து) அழுக்கா(று) உடையானைச் செய்யவள்
    தவ்வையை காட்டி விடும்.
    Avviththu azhukaaru udaiyaanai seiyaval
    thavvaiyai kaati vidum.

    பொறாமை இருப்பவரிடம் இருக்கும் திருமகள், அவனை தன் அக்காள்க்கு(மூதேவிக்கு) அடையாளம் காட்டி விட்டு விலகுவாள்.
    Lakshmi cannot bear with the envious person's wealth, she will quit and make way for her elder sister...(moodevi).

    168. அழுக்கா(று) எனஒரு பாவி திருச்செற்றுத்
    தீயுழி உய்த்து விடும்.
    azhukaaru yenaoru paavi thiruchetru
    theeyuzhi uiththu vidum.

    பொறாமை என்னும் தீமை, ஒருவனின் செல்வத்தையும் அழித்து தீய வழியில் அவனை செலுத்தி விடும்.
    Envy destroys the man's wealth ( in this world) and drive him to pit of fire (hell).

    169. அவ்விய நெஞ்சத்தான் ஆக்கமும் செவ்வியான்
    கேடும் நினைக்கப் படும்.
    Avviya nenjathaan aakamum sevviyaan
    kaedum ninaikka padum.

    பொறாமை உடையவரின் செல்வமும், பொறாமல் இல்லாதவருடைய வறுமையும், வியப்புக்குரியவையே.
    The wealth of the envious person and the poverty of the righteous person, is a matter for wonder.

    170. அழுக்கற்று அகன்றாரும் இல்லை; அக்தில்லார்
    பெருக்கத்தின் தீர்ந்தாரும் இல்.
    Azhukattru aganraarum illai; aqdhillaar
    perukkaththin theerndhaarum il.

    பொறாமையால் புகழ் பெற்று உயர்ந்தோரும் இல்லை, பொறாமை இன்மையால் புகழ் இன்றி வீழ்ந்தவரும் இல்லை.
    Never ever an envious man will become great, nor does a man free from envy fall from greatness.
