NEETHTHAAR PERUMAI

GREATNESS OF ASCETICS



21. ஒழுக்கத்து நீத்தார் பெருமை விழுப்பத்து
வேண்டும் பனுவல் துணிவு.
Ozhukkathu neethaar perumai vizhuppathu
vendum panuval thunivu.

ஒழுக்கத்தில் நிலைத்து நின்று பற்று விட்டவர்களின் பெருமையை சிறப்பாக கூறுவதே நூல்களின் கொள்கையாகும்.
The aim of every written work is to praise the greatness of those who have renounced desire.

22. துறந்தார் பெருமை துணைக்கூறின் வையத்து
இறந்தாரை எண்ணிக்கொண் டற்று.
Thurandhaar perumai thunaikkoorin vaiyathu
irandhaarai enni kondaatru.

துறந்தவரின் பெருமையை அளந்து கூறுதல், இதுவரையில் உலகில் இறந்தவர்களைக் கணக்கிடுவது போல், சிரமம் ஆகும்.
Describing the greatness of those who have renounced is as difficult as counting the number of those who are dead.

23. இருமை வகைதெரிந்து ஈண்டு அறம் பூண்டார்
பெருமை பிறங்கிற்று உலகு.
Irumai vagaitherindhu eendu aram poondaar
perumai pirangittru ulagu.

இரு வேறு உலகங்களின் தன்மையை ஆராய்ந்து, அறத்தின் வழியே நடப்பவரின் பெருமை உலகத்தில் உயர்வானது.
Those who have discovered the nature of both worlds and then chosen asceticism
Shall have their glory shining upon the earth .

24. உரனென்னும் தோட்டியான் ஓரைந்தும் காப்பான்
வரனென்னும் வைப்பிற்கோர் வித்து.
Uranennum thottiyaan oraindhum kaappan
varanennum vaippirkkor vithu.

அறிவு என்னும் அங்குசம் கொண்டு, ஐம் புலன்களை அடக்குபவன், வீடு பேற்றுக்கு
விதை போன்றவன்.

He who guides with five senses the hook of wisdom, will be a seed in the world of heaven.

25. ஐந்தவித்தான் ஆற்றல் அகல்விசும்பு உளார்கோமான்
இந்திரனே சாலும் கரி.
Aiyndhavithaan aatral agalvisumbu ulaarkomaan
Indhirane saalum kari.

ஐம் புலன்களை அடக்கி ஆசைகளை வென்றவனின் வல்லமைக்கு, தேவேந்த்ரனாகிய இந்திரனே சான்றாவான்.
Indra, the ruler of the Heavens himself, shall stand witness
To the strength of those who have conquered their five senses.
