3 Months Old baby -Irregular Bowlmovements

HI All,

My LO is struggling with irregular bowl Movements.
I am doing BF for my baby.
She is doing POO-POO for every 2 days or 3 days….
But her stool is Yellow and soft. But she is releasing so much gas and crying a lot.
I has tried giving her

Gripe Water

Warm Jeera/Wamu(Ajwain-(Carom seeds )Water

Raisin water which is soaked overnight

Has Applied the Caster Oil and applied warm cloth on her tummy.

I am massaging the baby's tummy with warm oil, lay her down and gently hold her legs and do the cycling action with her legs (very gently).

I am eating daily same food: (No Spicy and Gas Food)
1.plain rice
2. Rasam
3 Curry(beans/Beerakaya/Dondakaya)
4.Milk
5.Fruits
6.Bread
7.Chapathi(Some times)

I feel terrible. Please tell me what to do to get rid of constipation and gas and to get regular bowl movements.

Dear Vasuk,

It seems your baby has got some stomach infection or may be she is not taking enough liquid. Please visit a paed soon. As u mentioned u tried so many things but nothing working now. Usually for my son gripe water works. Byour baby is too young to look for home rememdies. I hope you are patting her back after every feed. Patting help to release gas in tummy. Pat her after every feed. I wish she recovers soon. But see a doctor.

Hope she feels better soon. If its of any relief to you, breast fed babies can go up to a week without pooping. However, since you say she is in pain and you have tried everything, I would suggest you check with your ped and give her colic drops. When gripe water doesn't work for my DD, colic drops does the trick. It also eases the gas pain.

Like the able poster said, you are burping her after every feed isn't it?
Ya, it really painful to see the young one suffer.

Below is my MIL's tip for baby to pass gas easily. This is for you to try it out..

Take a pan and heat some oil. Add jeera, asafetida, salt and cooked rice and eat it. It's supposed to assist the baby to relive the gas. Not sure if it actually works but I did it anyway.

It is very normal..Trust me it will vanish by the time LO is 4 months..
I had the issues with my DS. I too exclusively breast-fed him.. he was once in a week person) I have done all that you have tried except castor oil. What worked for me was mylicon..it worked much better than anything else. I used to give mylicon atleast twice a day..

try including more Curd / yogurt in your diet. Thats a natural way to make bowel movements regular.
infact my ped told me to add just a drop of Curd in formula while feeding him.
