    Hey mommies,

My 19+ months old is afraid of pooping and holds it. She passes her motion daily. From last one month, she is severely constipated. She has regular food - rice, oats, vegetables, dal, ghee, small banana and juices. She also takes formula and cow milk. She does not eat full orange and now spitting grapes as well. She hates plain water!

I am trying to potty train her but she says no to potty and refuses to sit. Her poop has to go without effort or she keeps running to fight the urge.

I am giving her soaked raisin juice everyday. What else can I do?

@raisin did the constipation start when you started Potty training? Lots of kids do that. I suggest if that's the case to postpone potty training for a week until her constipation gets over with. Then start again. If she is taking lots of fibre like oats and stuff she needs to drink water. Substitute oats with any cheerios etc for breakfast till her constipation goes away. Prunes are really good in dealing with constipation so is dates and dates syrup. Try and see.

@chitravivek Dates is known to constipate due to iron content in them.

@raisin Is the constipation due to formula and cow's milk?

Hi raisin - Did you try prunes, prune juices for constipation? I give lots of yogurt to mine when constipated. Also addition of ghee to her food might help.

Someone told me moong daal or khichadi helps but I have no idea.

Cut down on spinach, oats for some time.
