2 Years 5 Months Old - Play Group Or Nursery?

Hi everyone, my son is 2 years 2 months old now and will be 2.5 in june. I am planning to send him to school and am confused whether to put him in play school or prekg. He is just learning to talk and can't speak much. That is a third person cannot understand him without me translating. Few of my friends' kids have joined prekg the same age and are performing quite well. But many are telling me that its better to put him in play school as it may affect his future performance. Anybody had the same problem? Any ideas please!!
