முதன்முதலாய்!

பெற்று வளர்த்த அன்னை முகம்,
பெருமையில் நெகிழ்ந்த தந்தை விழி,
பற்றி நடந்த தமக்கையின் விரல்,
சுற்றித் திரியும் நண்பனின் குரல்,

நெடுநாள் இருந்த வாடகை வீடு,
அவ்வீட்டில் இருந்த முருகர் முகம்,
படுத்ததும் நினைவில் வரும் காடு,
இவற்றை மீறி அவள் பெருவிரல் நகம்

ஒளிர்ந்தது அவன் விழி மூடியதும்.
தலைகுப்புற விழும்படி தள்ளி விட்டு,
பின் உடனே அவனைத் தூக்கியதும்,
அவன் சொல்லின்றி ஒதுங்கி விட, திகைத்தும்,

அவனைத் தொடர்ந்த நண்பன் நிலை,
அதனைச் சொல்லிட வார்த்தையில்லை.
"மன்னிப்பாய்!", என்ற அவ்வொரு சொல்லை
தவிர பிற சொல்லேதும் வரவுமில்லை.

எத்தனை நெருங்கினும் சிறு தூரம்
எவ்வுறவிலும் உண்டு என அறிந்தான்.
இருந்தாலும் உடலெனும் பெரும்பாரம்
முதன்முதலாய் அவன் அன்றுணர்ந்தான்.
