Thanks for the detailed response and appreciation @jayasala42 madam. In fact I read phrases like "Thaali perugitru" grouped under "Mangala vazhakku", though it meant the demise of the husband. Oddly enough, Mangalam is used in positive context too in a numberof places. Remember the famous song "Kungumam! Mangala Mangaiyar kungumam; Kungumam, Madurai Meenatchi kungumam?" of past times? Also, remember this thirukkuraL? மங்கலம் என்ப மனைமாட்சி மற்றுஅதன் நன்கலம் நன்மக்கட் பேறு. The meaning of the word Mangalam is just mentioned as "Nanmai". I used it in that context. And its not the first time that marriage is linked to Mangalam. -rgs
Dear @Thyagarajan, Sorry for the late response. Thanks for your appreciation first, and for a crisp feedback. Oddly enough, even bride wears a lot of bangles these days. -rgs
I fully appreciate what you said.I just wanted to say'mangalam' does not refer to 'auspiciousness' alone and it also refers to inauspicious things described as if auspicious. I know pretty well that the word 'mangalam' is a happy prosperous word and nadaswaram is known as 'mangala vadyam. jayasala 42
In fact you have mentioned this even in your earlier response, @jayasala42 madam. I fully understand now. Thanks for another feedback. -rgs
