dear nats, Again a very nice thread. Very touching topic. I think nowadays we almost forget to see chittukuruvies flying and churping around. Flat system also is one of the reason. Lots of trees are cut down to make huge apartments and we are not replacing anything. Yes. It is a good Idea to take individual responsibilities to increase the species. I remembered at our village lots of kuruvis will come to eat Nellu during the harvest season and the Kolam done by arisi podi. Nowadays no Vaasal and no kolam. Good information, natpudan, about why the sparrow population is disappearing.. In the other thread, I had posted pictures of some birds that come to our bird feeder..happy to say that one of them is a sparrow.. sriniketan

Dear Nats, when i was in bangalore during my college days, my kannada lecturer used to feel bad every other day because those little birds she used to feed once upon a time never came back.... after that even i started looking for birds but in vain... after i came to chennai, here in our place, i see them everyday and feel happy to put grains for them.... Hi natpudan, Last week when I was in my native I was thinking about this bird, and how much I miss it. I don't see them in Chennai. I think after some time we will see them only in the zoo. How bad it is.
