This is a pretty problematic logic. But Hey, who said poems should have logic:)

Jenz, you might have a little more broader participation if you mix in some non-tamil blog posts along with these beautiful poems.

    Dear Jenz,

Your poem is good. But, I would like to argue that the adaiyalngal for a married lady may be to restrict her not to flirt with other men. In brahmins men do have an adaiyalm for marrige in the form of one more thread in their ponnals.

Dear Jey / Bhuman / Geetha Iyer,

    Thanks for your FB.

Sure...English ones will arrive soon....I realized it too.
Poonals....yes...tell me how many brahmins these days wear it actually??? And if they do, it is not a visible identification for marriage like the ladies have.
Also, poonal is done even at young age...so presence of a poonal need not necessarily mean you are married. (Just that you need to have poonal for getting married)

Anyways, no arguments...just didn't want to bottle up my thoughts and poured it out in the form of Kavithai ;-)

    Cheers
    Jenz

    Dear Jenz,

A beautiful poem and thanx for the same in english for non tamil readers like me.

Dear jenz, what geetha says is , when a guy gets married he gets an extra thread in his poonal - it becomes totally 6 after his father's demise another three strings is added. Bt agreed many are not wearing poonals but many are also not wearing Mangalsutr or metti.

    Dear Jenz,

The adaiyalams you have listed are traditional. There are several adaiyalams being practiced by males in India to show that they are married. In many parts of the country including Tamil nadu there is a practice for the male to get his wife's name tatooed on his chest or hand. Some have lockets witheir wives' photos.
