    Dear Ami, K2S & Jaya,
    Thanks for your comments.
Yes, in 1965 when this took place, it was looked at as a revolutionary step by the girl's father. Eventho' he took this step as he had no other go, it turned out to be good for his daughter.
Jaya: Even today, dowry system exists in different form, like demanding so much gold, car etc but I find more & more youngsters are revolting against it. may be it has to do with the education of the girls and their employment.
    Cheers!

    Hello RRG Sir,

This step was taken by a girl's father in 1965. Cant believe it. But a correct decision taken because the BM would never have ended her askings. The girl's life was saved. kudos to her father.

    Dear Shreya,
    Thanks for your FB.
I am in full aggrement with you wrt the drastic action taken by the girl's father. The girl would certainly have had a better life by marrying the spot selected groom, courtesy her father's bold & timely decision.
While we all do feel that it served SN right in the end, poor fellow, ended up paying the price for having listened to his mother. Perhaps, he could not over rule her as she was the one who brought him up to this level as a single parent and decided to go with her. Thus we find, the lady despite being one, was blinded by her avariciousness and even went to the extent of threatening to stop the marriage without any consideration for the future of an innocent girl. This I find was the root cause and called for condemnation in strongest terms.
    Cheers!

    Dear Rrg,

Very well portrayed. :thumbsup Nice. I really enjoyed it. :) And these two paragraphs are absolutely rocking. Hats off to the GF. The way you narrated it exactly looks like a movie scripts.
Coming back to dowry system, I'm really wondering. 2009 can change to 1965. Absolutely a big NO.
I found this thread on the recent thread column and after reading the title, I was just questioning myself. What kind of murukku it is ? It Sounds different. I was wondering does Rrg specialised in cooking. (sorry Sir) After getting into the thread, I got a big :bonk:bonk

    Dear Shel,
Thanks for your compliments - without my fishing for it. :rotfl
Incidentally, the Tamil words used by GF at both boy's mother as also the groom very much bordered being called 'unparliamentary'. I have tried to give an English translation, staying well within the parliamentary line, in order to ensure the story not being censored. :)
Incidentally, don't be surprised if I start a cookery column also. I am considered a good cook in my friend's & relations circle. :)
Trust you have read the other three 'Kalyanathil Galatta' episodes as well.
    Cheers!
