A lot of people seem to feel and believe that makeup looks good only on fair skin. Prepare to be surprised because the truth is, makeup may look just as flattering on dark skin. The key is to know what particular makeup to use. For dark skin the best foundation to use must be water-based. Dark skin has a tendency to look oily, and using cream foundation will only worsen the effect.
The water-based foundation must be of a shade closest to your skin tone. Dark skin needs special attention to unify skin tone, downplay overly prominent features and focus on the upper third of the face. The structure of facial features and the evenness of skin color are important in order to create a great look. Always avoid oil based products to make your makeup last longer since black skin has a tendency to reject makeup.
Some Important Tips for Makeup of Dark Skin
    - Dark Skin is less prone to pimples and blemishes so provides even tone for foundation blending.
    - Liquid foundation is best for the dark Skin as dark skin has tendency to shine and cream foundation will make it worse.
    - Best way to blend foundation is to mix distilled water in it and blend it in skin by rubbing otherwise there will appear streaks of foundation after sometime.
    - If you have dark skin, less the makeup, better it is. Your focus should be on enhancing it's inner glow and highlight the natural color. It is better to accentuate natural shades of skin then by trying to blend different colors.
    - It is better not to apply eyeliner and if you apply it use it sparingly in a thin line along with the shape of your eye. Never apply it on the lower lid. It will give artificial look.
    - Choose mascara with natural or clear color. If you have long lashes, do not apply black mascara; it should be used only for separating the lashes.
    Makeup Tips For Dark Skin
If you have dark skin then you should try this makeup for better look.
Foundation and face powder color in tan, sun bronze and peach may be tried. These shades will suit more dark skins.
Powder - Do not apply too much powder. Also, be sure to blend your makeup so there are no obvious lines.
Eye Shadow - You'll look best in forest green, medium purple, deep plum, medium blue, slate blue or gunmetal gray shades of eye shadow. Choose one shade only to use at a time and apply it all over eyes, from lash-line to brows.
Eyeliner - dark, thick eyeliner will make you look overdone and will ruin the rest of your makeup.
Mascara - Apply one coat of brown/black or black mascara.
Lipstick - You shine in sheer lip glosses in shades of light brown, bronze or raisin red. The shades should not be too dark or too light. Medium dull shades would look best.
Blush - Peachiest color blushers work best on dark and dusky complexion, your blusher is not be too pinkish.

    hi...
    very informative...:thumbsup
i feel for dark skin a two way product(i.e.a compact and foundation built in one)would be fine since finding correct shades is difficult for indian skin tones...
less is more for dark skin since it has a light yellow skin tone...
