I've printed your 10-step puja format and we're going to start following it at least every Friday (just need to get a bell and flowers!) Thank you so much!

    Re: Puja Format

    Dear Chithra Mam,

Can we do the puja in tamil instead of sanskrit?

I am doing Varalakshmi puja for last 2 years as you guided us. This year it striked me. Only I am saying the mantras. There were many participants for the puja. They wished to read the mantras. But feel very difficult and also do not know the meaning in sanskrit.

My suggestion is "In the known language if we do puja, all will understand and all of us will have an ATHMA THRUPTHI of doing puja"

    Can you please help us?

Please forgive me if I have asked any thing wrong.

Mam, I have posted Varalakshmi puja photos. You did not make any comment of it. This poor shishya is eagerly visiting this website, whether my Guruji has given any comment on my post.

    With love,
    Uma

    Dear Uma,
I have just left my comment! It is just lack of time, understand, Uma!
We have a format set traditionally in Sanskrit. If it needs to be changed in tamil, it is not feasible for us. Some elderly, scholarly person will have to take up the responsibilty, not just translaing it, but conveying it correctly.
i am just not the right person! Sorry.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra Mam!
    I undertood what you said.
    1) Can you please provide me Sansrit dictionary especially reg. Puja. Because I want to understand meaning for some of the words in Puja.
    2) Can you provide me mp3 file of Varalakshmi puja songs? I hope it will help all of us to download and sing after the Puja.
    3) I have heard that in some temples they are doing archanai in Tamil. Do you know any thing about that.
    4) I have a doubt in Varalaksmi Puja. What is the meaning behind 'nombu saradu' and its nine knots. When should we untie that saradu.
    5) Another great doubt. I am doing Varalakshmi puja of my own without the help of Shastrigal. This year I asked this doubt to a Shastrigal whether ladies can do puja. He told that without the help of guru, Varalakshmi puja should not be done. I argued with myself. I have read some puja books also. In that they have given "Pranayama" that is to be done during puja and also have given a note that it is not for ladies. Then it means that ladies can also do the puja. Am I right. As I am not doing the puja without guru, I do Vasthra dhanam to a Brahmin Sumangali. But, is there any specific puja that sould not be done without the help of guru.

    With Love,
    Uma
