Hi friends,

I recently registered in indusladies. I am proud to be a member of this friendly community.

I found that soaps are harsh on my skin. Can anyone kindly suggest me a good alternative to soap for daily use on the whole body during shower, like besan or mixture of different powders which can be prepared at home?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Bujji.

Hi
There is Bath powder(Sunnipindi in telgu) which is alternative to soap.
prep:
gram dal- 2cups
Rice ---1cup
moong dal -1cup
Bavanchaalu-- 2psns some good flavoured spice in Telugu for bathpowder purpose only.
Katchuraalu--2spns.
Lemon, orange,mousambi dried peels--powder 1cup

grind all together & use as bath powder.
This gives good smell to skin after bath & smoothes skin.
It wash out all the dust on our body.
& this summer having bath with that powder is good relief from sweating& irritating.

though i am away from India here i am using Besan, riceflour, moong dal mixed powder.
B ye :wave

Hope this helps..
Give me ur responses
I wil try to find out what this Bavanchalu & katchuraalu in English.

Hi Sunikris,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Can I make the powder by omitting those two seeds(Bavanchaalu, Katchuraalu) because I don't think I can find them over here?

Regards,
Bujji.

Hi, i read in a doctors column that avoiding soap will give raise to bacterial infection. Doctors dont appreciate stopping the use of soap. Especially women should be careful not to give oppurtunity for any fungal infections. If you dont use soap there is a risk of contracting infections in your sensitive organs. Try to cut down the usuage but do not totally stop it. atleast once a day as i read, the doctors advice the use of soap. U could go for herbal ones from bio- tech or oriflame or hamam. give it a try.

Dear Bujji,

If you can add a little turmeric with that, you will not get any infection. There are many people who are using powders like this without any infection all these years.

Kasturi turmeric if you can use with this powder, you will not get that yellow colour you normally get with turmeric powder

Have you tried Pears soap ?

Hi Bujji,

You can use this ‘Kasturi turmeric’ with ‘besan’ for taking bath. As said by Latha, try ‘pears’ also. Other wise use baby soap like Johnson’s baby soap. That will help you so much because they are for infants.

And if you can get ‘vasanai podi’ from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />Madras. This powder you will get in Mylapore, Sri Vidya stores. Mix that ‘vasani powder’ with ‘kasturi turmeric’ and ‘besan flour’/moong dal powder. That is the best one to use.

I usually prepare ‘vasani powder’ in my home for my use. But I don’t know the names of the Ingredients in English. More over you are in UK and you will not be able to get them there. If you are interested, tell me; let me give those names in Tamil.

Try these and give your FB.
