Two Drs from the TAVR team came in earlier. I asked if I should wake Dad and they said no, let him chill. Then my Dad woke and one of the Dr asked him to raise both arms, which he was always able to do. The other Dr asked if everything is ok and I said, "God-willing'
Ok Dad had two IS rages, one for when he was in OR and one for whole he is in ICU The lady cut off the tag that says he is in OR
Now a Case Manager came in and asked questions like dies he live in house or apt, does he need walker, who will take him home, etc, etc What is purpose of Case Manager?
Now they are making Dad to eat ice cubes The nurse put ice cube in mouth and woke him He was able to chew and swallow Then I gave him an ice cube and said I should have washed my hands Now I am waiting for spoon My Dad is in pain with the wires, IV, etc, etc
if he is in pain they sure are already giving pain meds thru the ivs... ask them and know what med they giving for your knowledge.. case manager handles all the things (not to forget the financial matters) that a patient need while they are being discharged, and the things they need at home for him to get back to routine. like the things including medical supply, home healthcare nurses if needed,in home theraphies etc..
The doctor's job is done after post operative care and it is the case manager who should verify all other requirements before discharge as to what the patient need for him to go back home.
