    I tied with string overnight but in vain

    as others said, wire might help or pushing pulling, adjusting with hands little bit . I guess there is metal wire inside that red thread.
    They might be really lightweight which is why hanging overnight did not work.
    Since these are "latkans" once you attach, they will anyways be hanging, so may straighten out over time.
