    This is exact family background where I came from unlike spouses family and it took big dip rock bottom to realize and came in track with our finances.

    Thank you @EverydayBloom! It is interesting that my spouse and I grew up on different continents but our families have similar values. He also grew up with a "no need to keep up with Joneses" mindset. My MIL is a saver and I go to her for most of my financial questions.
