Thanks for the thread anika. Reading is one activity that lifts my spirits any time of the day:blush: Have been an avid reader throughout somehow squeezing in time to read -be it fiction, non fiction, the works! Have now got a lovely reference point for further reading from all the above posters.
Its difficult to list out favourites, however the undermentioned featured a lot in my collections:
Irving wallace - The second lady being a favourite
James hadley chase - the whole lot
    Agatha christie
    Pearl S buck
    Dan brown
Sherlock holmes - the whole collection
and more recently David baldacci .

Agatha Christie is my all time favorite, i didn't love Ms Marple series the way i loved Hercule Poirot.

Offlate the trend in thriller novels which puts me off is that, the woman will be alone, heavily into drinking, imagines things and unable to differentiate between reality and imagination.
This has become the theme for many novels.

The kind of thrillers and mysteries i like are where all the dots are connected in the end, and no matter howmuch i guess it should turn out to be wrong, yet the clues should be everywhere...

Maybe i am too much of Hercule Poirot fan

Sydney sheldon champions the heroine of each and every novel of his.
Ken Follette highly researched novels. Many of fictions have turned into movies. That man from saint Petersburg is one such. Eye of the needle - excellent read with worldwar- II background.

The Fan Club is a wonderful unputdownable entertainer throughout around five hundred pages by Irving Wallace. Four men of the fan club adores an actress desires her and jointly kidnap her and she evolves and implements strategy in a meticulous planning. How she triumphs is the read. I think it was a box office hollywood film. I read it some time in 1976. Must be Available in kindle and in library - fiction shelf.

Authoress detective specialist - agatha Christie short story collection another best light-read for thrill horror and excitement. Cheating Husband returns from official tour and demands food. She says your favourite in fridge. He opens fridge & finds a dish peculiar in shape and size. He demands to know the name of dish. She responds, “your latest lover’s liver”!

Excellent entertainer. I read this book almost three times. A stout book that i broke it into three volumes for easy hold and spread in hand. I read it instalments.

This book too i thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I could read so many books as a bachelor residing in alodge during my employment in defence. The library was close to lodge and railway station. Most of the books i read only while commuting by local rail between office and lodge. I made notes too which i holdeven today. Mere going through notes transports me to those lovely days. Nostalgic.

Agatha Christie anytime for light bedside reading.. She excelled at what is known as “cozy mystery “ today. It is reassuring and comfortable to read because she gives her readers everything to properly solve the mystery. And the victory of justice will surely happen! If you haven’t started reading Christie yet, start with “The Mysterious Affair at Styles”, the first to feature her great detective Hercule Poirot !
