I am currently suffering from sever endometriosis pain during periods, and relatively heavy bleeding.
Endometriosis was diagnosed several years back, but I did not have unbearable pain back then. In fact, my tolerance level was too high when it comes to pain; hence I managed my periods without even taking painkillers.
Dr advised to take oral contraceptives since 2014. I tried to take them a couple of times in 2014 and in 2019, but each time I had side effects equivalent to early pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sever gastritis and headache. It gotten worst after a couple of weeks; hence I had to stop the pills within 10-12 days or so.

But this time, given the weather changes in this new country and all, I have severe period pain. It starts 2 days before period, and especially the day before period has been horrible. Even pain killers won't help as I cry in pain. Then the first day of period is also painful, but from the second day all come back to normalcy.

I experienced this during the last 2 periods; hence I no longer want to risk my body to go through another horrible one again.
So, regardless of the side effects, I've resumed my combined birth control pills. It's been a weak and the side effects are high, but I am managing them somehow.

    Now my questions are>>>

    1. Will I get my period/withdrawal period after stopping the pills on the 22nd day?
    2. Will my periods be horrible as before or mild with minor pain?
    3. Can I delay my period by continuing the pill after the 22nd day, so that I can travel or host a party on a day when my period is supposed to come. Given the last 2 experiences, I couldn't even get up from the bed during the first days.
    4. Will oral contraceptive pills make you gain weight? Any other side effects of long term use?
    5. I will see a Dr later, but I should be mentally prepared if he suggests surgery as an option. Has anyone gone through endometriosis before? and how was the cure process?

    Thanks in advance

Consult a doctor about getting hormonal IUD such as Mirena. For some it has reduced the effects of heavy periods. Check your iron levels regularly especially if you have regularly heavy periods.

I got the surgery done last year! Laparoscopy ! I’m fine now but of course I’m still recovering from post surgery effects! Otherwise I’m fine! They gave me megastrol far less than chemo!

If you are going to get surgery make sure you go to an endometriosis specialist.

I got the surgery done. Sadly it was a total hysterectomy. It was an open surgery similar, rather more tougher than c-section.

As i already had 2 c-sections in the past & had a polyp in one of my ovaries, they suggested open surgery than laparoscopy.

    I am still recovering....

SGBV, ma'am you are a superwoman, no two ways about that, but for once in life, try to focus on just yourself. :kissingheart: Leave them workplace people and new hires to themselves, na?

Wishing you a speedy recovery and feeling back to normal soon.
