Hi All, My dad (in-law) will turn 70 this year. After reading another thread on 60th bdy, wanted to check with you all if there is any celebration for 70th also? If yes, can you share details please. Thanks in advance.
Hai There is a pooja for 70 th birthday too. Its performed for good health. We are going to do that for my dad, who is turning 70 next year. Consult a prohit. Its called as "Shanthi pooja". Actually our prohit said that it should be done in the completion of 71 years.
it is called bheeshma/beema ratha santhi..for the completion of 70 years..and sadabhishekam for 80,or having seen 1000 poornimas i think.
Yes there is a celebration for 70th year also. It can be done either at the completion or at starting 70 years, you need to consult your prohit regarding when it should be performed. This is mainly done like an ayushhomam(the one which we do at the completion of 1st year of a child). It is done with the intention of having and a healthy years ahead. And also a mrityunjahomam also is done.
Yes as mentioned above there is 70th year celebration called Bheema ratha shanthi..I had been to one last weekend .. Rgds, Lalli
@murphybaby77 Among South Indian Brahmin community the young ones collectively celebrate the milestone event by performing a ritual known as “Bhima Ratha Shanthi”. It can be performed in temples as in Thirukadaiur. More information available in link: https://vaidicpujas.org/bhimarathashanthi/ My spouse & I organised for my dad & mom when they attained such milestones and celebrated in a modern marriage hall with invitees from lure,Stivers and near & Dear. When my dad was to reach hundred, we planned for performing homam and other rituals. But ten days before he could strike a century God had called him back to pavilion. I narrated the events in a thread here. If wherewithal permits, a huge Celebration can be organised in modern marriage halls or choultries. Many of my friends upon attaining sixty & seventy, performed Shanthi (homam). Those who attain such milestones do visit orphanage; besides donating in cash & kind, they rejoice by spending their special day with inmates of orphanages or in old age homes giving away food and gifts. In smaller scale the aforesaid homam can be performed at home too. Spouse & I have crossed milestones such as sixty and seventy but We had no mind to perform and celebrate. Several question raised by my Kith and kin but when I told reason, they understood sadness and sorrow part behind it. Thanks & Regards. God Bless.
Ref my #8. I am referring to the sentence where I had stated my dad was called back to pavilion before he could turn into a centenarian. The narration is available in link: Spouse & I With Dad - A Surgical Operation God Bless who all read this.
