What Is Ailing Ukraine?

I absolutely agree that we need to be able to look our own flaws in the face and that it is the pre-requisite to better ourselves as a nation. But that does not imply that we wash our dirty linen in some foreign country. Our stock everywhere is already low. Ask the world, we can't do anything right, ever.

The reference to the CAA (no, it has no direct connection to war or evacuation, but certainly to attitude) is to illustrate the fact that this is just what that particular student did in another country, foul-mouthed his govt and then cried that the govt was doing nothing, although he came back home safe and sound ..... and then for whatever reason praised the same govt for the evacuation. Proof that the govt is not exactly vindictive either.

Agreed some students may have stayed on due to attendance requirements. But then what is the point in complaining that the govt did not come and air lift them before the war started instead of just issuing an advisory? Is that not self-contradictory? They could not have left in any case.

As for the criticism about the govt air lifting from outside (which according to them qualifies ONLY as transport and not evacuation), how can any sane person fly into a war zone at the risk of being shot down? What if the aircraft carrying evacuees is shot down? Criticism is fine, but criticism for the sake of criticism without consideration of all factors .....???

If these are the 'poor' students (are they really so poor?), then they should be grateful for the free shelter, food and transport they got back. But these 'poor' students were complaining about lack of vegan food, on-flight entertainment, not being given a free ticket from point of entry to their homes.

Criticizing a govt which has spent so much money and effort on transporting you back is nothing but ingratitude. Even if not grateful, one can surely be gracious?

 

When all the western countries where actively pulling out their people from Ukraine sending a memo note is equivalent to sending a roll of toilet paper, when you know you have thousands of students studying in that country and decide to send a memo and only react when things get bad ?

 

That’s what people from democratic country do protest if they don’t agree with the government policy, policies change when governments change equating a protest against a policy to non-patriotic is nonsense.

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.

Considering the numbers, the planning and organization required, not to speak of costs, I can't say honestly that it has NOT been a phenomenal achievement.

Anyway, I have expressed my opinion on this topic and I guess I would not like to keep repeating myself.
