Want To Plant Bilva & Peepal Tree In Austin Tx

    I am thinking of planting Bilva tree & peepal tree in backyard of our home and we live in Austin TX. Will Bilva tree & peepal tree grow in Austin TX weather conditions?

    Austin is in USDA zone 8B. For any tropical plant you have to be in a warmer zone 9B at least for it to thrive outside in winter. Both the bilva and pepal are recommended for zone 10 and above. From my experience, it’s heart breaking to nurture a plant that is from a childhood memory to have it die in the winters. I’ve tried so many Indian plants and even with moving indoors they don’t thrive. I recommend planting native trees. The native plants that I planted have done so well(including during the snow storm last year).
    Around Feb 15th or so, you will see trees for sale in all the local nurseries. Go early because they get crowded when the weather gets better and you won’t find anyone with time to help you pick a tree.
